GENERAL PURPOSE

Responsible for supporting and maintaining District application software; developing custom data integration solutions for existing products and/or services to better aide the end user; and providing excellent customer service and sharing information with others.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Analyze applications, systems, and user requirements creating and enhancing user requested specialized programs and systems.

Collaborate with a variety of district departments and external vendors ensuring quality technology resources and support.

Provide support to staff and students for use of said applications and work closely with vendors to resolve issues.

Write SQL data extraction packages(SSIS) and PowerShell scripts that support the integration of software systems that automate a variety of processes.

Create SQL/SSRS reports for users to retrieve data from the applications to review patterns, trends, and information related to their jobs.

Develop system/software specifications from information gathered at user meetings and/or interviews with internal and non-district staff documenting/interpreting user requests, identifying data sources and creating working plan.

Develop new applications, systems, and system components enhancing existing systems and/or providing solutions to current processing problems.

Maintain existing systems used by finance and human resource departments providing production support in ensuring the ongoing availability of information needed to meet mandated requirements.

Manage assigned work activities and/or projects providing guidance and support to staff and ensuring completion of projects within established guidelines.

Participate in meetings, workshops, and/or trainings conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

Respond to inquiries regarding application software issues from a variety of departments providing technical assistance issue resolution.

Troubleshoot application software isolating bugs and resolving issues and/or providing user training.

Perform other related duties as required/assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years of job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements

MCSA SQL Server certification preferred.

Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.

Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: Microsoft SQL Server environment; general scripting best practices; software administration and configuration; interpreting technical language and agreements; information security best practices and customer service strategies to perform the job functions.

Skill to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records developing and maintaining time estimates and schedules; reading technical documentation; collaborating with other staff on project groups; and using pertinent software applications.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work environment is primarily inside, where the noise and temperature levels are moderate.

The work is light work that requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.

Must possess the physical ability to work primarily with fingers, perceive the nature of sounds, make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, express or exchange ideas by the spoken word, substantial movements (motions) with the hands, wrists, and/or fingers, and discern letters or numbers at a given distance.
