MAINSTREAM INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT/REMOTE LEARNING SUPPORT

Our Thomas Fleming Elementary school is seeking a part-time Mainstream Instructional Assistants beginning with the 2020-21 school year to assist and supervise assigned special needs students instructionally, behaviorally and physically in the general mainstream program. Positions will involve working with a student individually and/or in small groups.

During the hybrid phase of instruction, this position will be supervising the children of our staff members and supporting them in their remote learning under the direction of the Essex Junction Recreation and Parks.

Successful experience working with students with emotional challenges and mental health diagnosis required. Experience working with elementary aged students also required. Additional qualifications include the following:
- Good working knowledge of disabilities of special education students, and special education teaching methods, theories and laws also required.
- Good understanding of standard classroom operations and teaching methods; good basic teaching skills.
- Demonstrated mastery of the academic subject matter being taught to students.
- Flexibility within schedule to meet bus and/or stay with student(s) at the end of the day.
- Able to serve as a substitute bus aide before and/or after school preferred.
