Description
Andover is seeking a teacher for our award winning program for students with language based learning disabilities.
Provides small group and/or individualized instruction and a modified curriculum to students with special needs. Provides direct instruction through Co-Teaching and/or small group and individual instruction.
Responsibilities
1. Within regular education or in pullout settings, provide teamed, small group or individualized instruction and/or academic support according to the general and specific goals outlined in students' individualized educational plans.
2. Modifies and adapts the curricula, materials, and physical environment to meet the needs of individual students.
3.Completes diagnostic testing (formal/informal) as required.
4.Participates in IEP Team meetings for students in the program or newly referred.
5. Acts as Case Manager for designated students, providing close communication with parents and staff and preparing progress reports, annual review narratives and individual education plans.
Qualifications
1. Massachusetts teacher's certification.
2. Certification as Teacher of School Age Children with Moderate Special Needs.
3. Expertise in designing and implementing special education programs.
4. Experience in teaching students with language based learning disabilities, and reading disorders, preferred. Training in Orton-Gillingham based programs/ methodology strongly preferred.
5.Strong background in comprehensive strategies and content area, Literacyinstruction preferred.
