School Psychologist in St. John the Baptist Parish School District, Louisiana

As a School Psychologist, you will be providing school-based services virtually to children in the St. John the Baptist Parish School District. The School Psychologist facilitates learning and promotes the cognitive, social, and personal development of all students by collaborating with educators, administrators, families and other mental health professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments for all students and strengthen connections between home and school.

School psychologists have specialized training in both psychology and education. They use their training and skills to team with educators, parents/guardians, and other mental health professionals to ensure that every child learns in a safe, healthy and supportive environment. School psychologists understand school systems, effective teaching and successful learning. Full job description is available upon request.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Public School District is the parish's largest employer, providing more than 900 jobs, and educates approximately 6,000 students in pre-kindergarten through 12 th grade on 11 campuses. We further partner with a network of local childcare centers to ensure children in St. John the Baptist Parish are getting the care and education they need beginning as early as infants.

St. John the Baptist Parish is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. As of the 2010 census, the population was 45,924. The parish seat is Edgard, an unincorporated area, and the largest city is LaPlace, which is also unincorporated. St. John the Baptist Parish was established in 1807 as one of the original 19 parishes of the Territory of Orleans, which became the state of Louisiana. St. John the Baptist Parish is the “Heart of the River Parishes,” those communities located along the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
