SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The role of the speech-language pathologist is a multifaceted one that includes the provision of diagnostic and therapeutic services to students, collaboration and support to parents and school support staff and participation as a multidisciplinary team member.

The services of the speech-language pathologist include, but are not limited to the following:

ï,• Provide therapeutic services to eligible students using a continuum of service delivery models;

ï,• Provide diagnostic assessment services to students using the established eligibility and exit criteria;

ï,• Develop and implement IEPs utilizing an educationally based model with goals aligned to educational standards;

ï,• Participate in required Domain, Problem Solving, FIE and annual review meetings as needed;

ï,• Provide consultation to teachers, parents and staff

ï,• Provide staff development to school staff and parents

ï,• Program and utilize augmentative/alternative communication systems

ï,• Participate in activities that support students’ educational programs

ï,• Attend regional and departmental meetings

ï,• Complete compliance activities including:

ï,• Daily progress notes

ï,• Weekly documentation of all services delivered via ChildServe

ï,• Quarterly report of student achievement (IEP report cards)

ï,• Monthly Statistics

Complete required supervisory activities with speech-language paraprofessional;

ï,• Maintain accurate records;

ï,• Follow established departmental policies and procedures;

ï,• Follow established attendance reporting procedures;

ï,• Supervise CFY candidates, student teachers and practicum students;

ï,• All clinicians participating in the Health Services Management Program must comply with all policies and procedures of the program as detailed in the ChildServe User Manual and the HSMP Reference Manual to ensure the full delivery, accurate recording, and timely reporting of the services provided to students.
