Dates Needed: October 2020 - December 2020, possibly to extend longer based on school and district needs

Salary Range: $15.18 per hour

Denver Public Schools is currently recruiting for Health Tech Paraprofessionals who will support our School Nurses. Support is needed at various schools and grade levels. Qualified candidates will be contacted by a district recruiter to schedule a time for an interview. Position will directly support one school and recruiters will speak to you regarding regional and grade level preferences. Essential Functions and Objectives:

The Health Technician Paraprofessional provides support for the COVID coordinator and school Registered Nurse, may serve as the back up COVID Coordinator in the school building, assists with students that are experiencing signs of illness, supervising the isolation room for individuals that need to go home due to COVID related symptoms or other related illnesses, provides support for students in the health office as delegated to by the school nurse and school COVID coordinator. The health technician will administer medications, health treatments, and support as delegated to by the school registered nurse, and will assist with COVID needed support as delegated. The health technician paraprofessional will assist with needed health screenings such as vision and hearing and may provide support as needed with COVID screening. The health Technician Paraprofessional will also assist with documentation of Immunization Compliance, The health technician paraprofessional will work under the supervision of, and as authorized by the school's Registered Nurse.

DPS will ensure the health and safety of our students, families, and staff by observing to the following health protocols:

- Masks/face shields: All adults and students are required to wear masks or face shields when on school grounds, with the exception of time for eating or other designated "mask break" that would take place outside. Masks will also be required for students riding the bus to/from school.

- Handwashing: Students and staff will wash hands or use hand sanitizer every few hours throughout the day.

- Gloves: Teachers and other staff will not be asked to wear gloves. Cleaning, kitchen and other special staff like Health Care Providers or Occupational Therapists will be asked to wear gloves based on health guidelines.

- Symptom screening: There will be a process to screen all parents/guardians, staff, and students for COVID-19 symptoms before they come into school each day. Based on temperature checks, students/staff with a temperature of 100.0 or above will not be permitted to stay at school. We ask all students, family members, and staff to stay home if they are feeling ill (including symptoms like fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, abdominal pain, fatigue, muscle aches, or headache).

- Health hygiene education: Staff will reinforce safe and healthy hygiene protocols (e.g. covering coughs and sneezes with tissues or elbows).

Education Requirements:

Copy of high school diploma or GED.
