The School Support Coordinator serves a critical role in Chicago Public School's Office of Innovation and Incubation (I&I). As the designee for The Chicago Board of Education, I&I authorizes and manages a portfolio of 160 charter, contract and option schools and programs serving approximately 60,000 students.

Reporting to the Director of School Quality and Support, the School Support Coordinator is primarily responsible for assisting with the development of school support materials, coordinating trainings, drafting and executing communications, and assisting with strategic analysis and planning. The School Support Coordinator is also responsible for special projects and process documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for researching and facilitating the sharing of innovative programs,practices and resources to help schools engage in continuous improvement

  • Provide school improvement support (i.e. Academic Remediation Process, at-risk schools and ISBE identified schools) to schools and governing boards while respecting charter autonomy and the promise of innovation

  • Assist with strategic initiatives, lead convergence and projects with various academic and support departments and cross collaboration with I&I teams

  • Create, draft and update school support process documentation and strategic plans

  • Assist with analyzing academic data and school ratings to identify areas of growth and learning demands

  • Assist with coordination of parent support and phone calls, responding to inquiries (within 24 hours)



Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • School leadership and/or school improvement experience a plus



Applicant must demonstrate the following:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and diplomacy skills

  • Experience working for a school district or education-related agency preferred

  • Strong communication skills, including developing external communication documents for a wide range of audiences and effectively addressing stakeholder concerns and inquiries

  • The ability to receive, internalize data, and respond to feedback from department leadership, manager, colleagues, and external partners for continuous improvement

  • Project Management skills



Residency Requirement:

As a condition of employment with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to live within the geographic boundaries of the City of Chicago within six months of his or her CPS hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment with the district.
