Title: Hourly Employees – WIDA Assessments and Title III Audits
Dates: 08/01/2020 – 07/31/2021
Additional Information: The district uses the services of a few high-performing teachers to facilitate in-service training sessions for small groups of WL or ESOL teachers. These teachers are paid according to the district's approved hourly rate. The functions of these employees are in alignment with the first objective within Richland One's 2014-19 Strategic Plan: "Students will master numeracy and literacy skills.
Minimum Education
· Requires a Bachelor's degree in education supplemented by three to five years of teaching experience.
· WIDA testing certifications 2018 – 2019
· Must possess teaching certification. (Retired teachers can be recertified for assessments)
Duties
· Assess language proficiency of all newcomers using the WIDA-Screener Placement Test as required by Board Policy IHBEA and state and federal laws.
· Provide assistance to all private schools within the Richland One's school attendance zone in the areas of identification, assessment and placement of ELs, as required by state and federal law.
· Manage a comprehensive database for all K-12 ESOL students as required by state and federal laws.
· Supports the daily operations of the International Welcome Center.
· Informal Spanish – English interpretation for families and schools.
· Assist in the assessment of new ELs during peak period: August-November; January and May. They provide a valuable service and help the district ensure timely assessment and placement of new ELs according to Board Policy IHBEA as well as state and federal laws.
· Support during the district's annual internal ESOL audit. During this audit, they are alternately assigned to teams responsible for auditing the records of over 1,000 ESOL students in order to help ensure compliance with Board Policy IHBEA as well as state and federal laws. They also provide on-site support to school staff as needed.
