CLASS TITLE : Resource Teacher

WORKING TITLE : Resource Teacher, Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) - Golden Ring MS - (Part-time .6-FTE)

REPORTS TO : Principal

SUMMARY : Provides training, consultation, and support to schools in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Student Support Team (SST) process and a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework. Provides consultation to individual school staff in an effort to increase team and staff capacity in addressing complex academic and social, emotional, and behavioral needs of students within the general education environment. Ensures that all initiatives are aligned with system-wide goals identified in Blueprint 2.0 and comply with the Code of Maryland Regulations and the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights;

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES :
Supports the SST/504 facilitator in the development and communication of initiatives as related to the SST process, MTSS framework, and Section 504.
Provides training and support in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the SST process and the MTSS framework.
Consults with parents, school staff, and central office staff regarding the development and monitoring of Student Support Team (SST) Plans, 504 Plans, and
Behavior Intervention Plans.
Participates in school-based SST meetings to assist in data-based problem solving, individual student planning, and progress monitoring.
Provides daily and on-going support to school teams and central office staff regarding the SST process and the MTSS framework.
Collaborates with school administrators, teachers, and other school staff to identify, implement, and monitor school-wide/universal and classroom interventions.
Reviews and analyzes school-wide and classroom data to assist in identifying areas of need and necessary follow-up.
Reviews and analyzes student data to provide recommendations for individual student planning.
Maintains complete and accurate data of school visits, outcomes, etc.
Participates in office and zone meetings, as requested.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education, Training, and Experience :
Possession of a Bachelor's degree in a field directly related to the assignment from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.
Three (3) years successful teaching experience. Experience in specialized areas such as school counseling, school psychologist, or school social worker preferred.

Licenses and Certification :
Possession of, or eligibility for, Maryland Professional Certificate commensurate to the position.
Possession of, or eligibility for, Advanced Professional Certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of the principles and practices of pedagogy. Knowledge of effective instructional techniques, materials, and equipment.
Knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and elements, including positive behavior supports, social-emotional learning, school-wide mental health prevention, teacher consultation, screening, and teaming, preferred.
Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and practices that address a positive and sustainable school climate.
Knowledge of and skill in various data collection methods, data analysis, and data-driven problem solving.
Demonstration of experience facilitating the SST process, preferred.
Experience in teacher consultation and meeting the needs of the adult learner, preferred.
Knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act, as Amended, and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).
Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Demonstration of strong leadership, management, and human relations skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently travel among school and office locations.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (State of Maryland, Senate Bill 315, effective October 1, 1986) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $81.00 An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
  • Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
  • If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
  • Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
  • Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.
