Under the direction of the Partnership Coordinator, provides training and ongoing support to Pre-Kindergarten teachers and educational assistants.

Reports To : Partnership Coord, Program Officer, and Exec Dir

Salary :
Salary Schedule For Preschool Teachers (Early Childhood and Early Intervention) in effect for 2018-19 and Onward (Starting at $43, 230 with Bachelor's Degree or at $45, 510 with Master's Degree)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Work Year: Follows the Pittsburgh Public Schools education staff calendar.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary or Early Childhood Education or related field, Master's Degree preferred.

- Pennsylvania certification in Early Childhood is required (N-3 or PreK-4).

- A minimum of five (5) years of satisfactory teaching experience in early childhood or preschool programs.

- Experience in a mentoring or coaching position preferred.

- Applicants must have knowledge of exemplary programs for young children and families.

Competencies:
Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.

Law and Government - Adherence to the Pennsylvania School Code, Pennsylvania Loyalty Act, No Child Left Behind Act, the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, and the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Regulations and Guidance.

Administration and Management - Knowledge of resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.

Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes or providing customer and personal services.

Psychology - Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and assessments.

Stakeholder Relations - The ability and willingness to interact and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions :
1. Monitors classroom instruction for developmentally appropriate practices and provides feedback to Partner teachers, education assistants, and directors.

2. Conducts in-class demonstrations by modeling promising educational practices.

3. Maintains documentation of observations and develops curriculum goals.

4. Ensures that classrooms are properly equipped and have adequate supplies.

5. Ensures that classrooms are exhibiting quality as evidenced by the ECERS-3, CLASS, and other tools.

6. Monitors classrooms, lesson plans, and anecdotal notes.

7. Mentors teaching staff in Partner sites in order to provide the best environment for children.

8. Adheres to, and supports teaching staff in adhering to, the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, and/or the Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts Regulations and Guidance.

9. Completes/supports the completion of screenings and assessments for children enrolled in Partner sites within 45 days of enrollment and throughout the program year.

10. Prepares materials to share with classroom teaching staff to support quality early learning environments

11. Provides information requested by Partnership Coordinator.

12. Provides in-service training.

13. Attends regular professional development training.

14. Replaces school district classroom teachers or assistant teachers when necessary.

15. Performs other duties as assigned by the Partnership Coordinator.

Additional Job Information :
Physical Demands: Employee will be required to operate computer system for data entry, and have the ability to complete necessary paperwork. Must be able to travel from one location to another to visit classrooms. This position requires minimum physical effort and not subjected to Occupational Health and Safety risks.

Work Environment:
1. Indoors in busy office, working in close proximity to co-worker
2. Must travel from one location to another to visit classrooms (personal vehicle required, mileage will be reimbursed)
3. Frequently required to work at fast pace
4. Requires considerable concentration and creativity.
5. Subject to stress caused by a changing environment, diversity in the organization, tight deadlines and workload.
