POSITION SUMMARY

The Director (IT Applications) oversees all aspects of the District's business technology applications and related data management functions through strategic and operational leadership. The director is responsible for software portfolio management and collaborating across other information technology (IT) departments. The incumbent manages all operational activities of the department, providing direction and support for IT solutions that enhance district support of schools and student learning. The director works closely with decision makers in other divisions to sustain the systemic plan of cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Understands the District's business process needs, culture and the process flow (or intersection) between the various functioning departments
  • Evaluates potential new applications and system software product/enhancements
  • Assesses functionality by comparing to existing applications and software throughout the enterprise
  • Validates that outcomes improve the efficiency, performance and reliability of the production environment
  • Successfully directs the ERP upgrade activities; provides leadership, strategy and support for ongoing implementation enhancements with finance , human resources and all other business teams
  • Directs the management and support of all applications required to support business operations, including support for student applications.
  • Develops data management function based on industry best practices to include, data warehousing, data quality, data reporting and data analysis via dashboards
  • Manages department budget, identifying cost saving opportunities
  • Oversees the assessment, acquisition, design, development, support and maintenance of applications and related data management functions
  • Manages the software portfolio using best practices, technical team staffing and collaboration with other information technology (IT) departments, including security, networks, infrastructure, architecture and the project management office
  • Plans, coordinates, directs and designs operational activities of the application department
  • Collaborates with decision makers in other divisions across the district to identify, recommend, develop, implement and support cost-effective technology solutions
  • Oversees the technical team to identify and resolve system issues; ensures that applications meet business requirements, system goals, and fulfill end-user requirements
  • Lead a team of analysts to establish robust key performance indicators (KPI) and a system to track and report KPI outcomes; develop service and operation standards that will improve the performance of the team
  • Directs application management, vendor management and technology leadership across the district's application portfolio, business units and schools, while communicating clearly with stakeholders and ensuring issues are resolved and risks are minimized
  • Remains abreast of developments and best practices in the information technology field
  • Builds relationships with external providers and industry experts to bring the most current thinking to the district's operating environment
  • Lead teams to create and maintain proper documentation for all systems and installations; establish processes, procedures and standard operating procedures as necessary
  • Provides the tools, training, leadership, and mentoring required to complete projects on time and ensure critical business applications are available
  • Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator
  • Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated


Requirements :

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Technical knowledge of ERP software, architecture and capabilities
  • Ability to manage cloud-based applications and vendor relationships
  • Knowledge of data management including systems integrations, data management, data quality, systems reporting and executive leadership dashboard reporting
  • Skills with web-based solutions and web programming
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles, tools and various methodologies
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture best practices
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning new technologies
  • Ability to project manage cross functional teams, work under pressure, manage and set priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively manage, coach and mentor technical staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in writing and verbal
  • Self-motivated, proactive, action-oriented, results-driven
  • Ability to be flexible, adapting quickly in a fast-moving environment that supports students and schools
  • Ability to be a service-oriented, working team leader


EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree in business, management information systems, information technology, computer science or a related field required
  • Master's degree preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE
  • ITIL certification preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • 10 years of IT experience required
  • 5 years of experience managing direct reports required
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, Microsoft platforms, ITIL Service Management based systems, web-based systems programming, system integration development, data management and dashboard reporting


Compensation :

GRADE: 137

WORK DAYS: ANNUAL

SALARY: $93, 245 - $127, 866

FLSA Status : Exempt
