    SUMMARY : Westminster Public Schools is committed to ensuring all students are ready for the day after graduation by working to engage and empower them to enter high school on or ahead of grade level, knowledgeable of their personal strengths and planning for a career that maximizes their skills and interests. This school counselor position will work with the existing mental health interventionists and instructional staff to deliver instruction to implement building wide tiered supports. The Future Center K-8 SEL Counselor reports directly to the Director of SEL & Student Agency, and is part of the Future Center/SEL Counseling staff. This position is based at the elementary level and will work with K-8 students and their families in the three domains of counseling: career, academic, and social-emotional learning. The SEL areas of emphasis will include a focus on supportive practices, trauma responsive schools, student agency and community and family partnerships. This counselor will work with the core district and Future Center counselors to re-engage and/or accelerate students in their learning and postsecondary preparation, coordinate and implement programs, policies and professional development that will result in improved student academic performance.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    *Licensed School Counselor
    *Candidates with endorsements in CLDE, Bilingual Ed, Foreign Language, and/or sheltered content or other English Language instructional training desired
    *Bi-lingual English/Spanish desired
    *Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
    *Experience and/or skills working with culturally diverse populations desired
    *Has knowledge and experience of and/or willingness to gain knowledge of Competency-based education approaches
    *Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, staff members, parents and administrators
    *Oral and written communication skills
    *Interpersonal relations and collaborative teaming skills with all stakeholders
    *Customer service and public relations skills
    *Critical thinking and problem solving skills
    *Calm demeanor during crisis situations
    *Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
    *Promote and follow Board of Education policies and building and division procedures
    *Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    *Provide collaborative consultation support for various stakeholders including, but not limited to, instructional staff, administration, parents and community agencies *Serve on the building crisis management team
    *Provide regular feedback to parents/caregivers and supervisor(s) on student progress toward meeting therapeutic, academic and career exploration goals
    *Serve in a school leadership capacity in the organization and implementation of Positive Behavioral Intervention Support (PBIS), Student Assistance Teams, and implementation of Social Emotional Learning
    *Assist in the implementation of Westminster Public Schools Future Plan (i.e., ICAP)
    *Offer professional development related to his/her area of expertise to stakeholders including, but not limited to, staff and parents
    *Remain current with research-based practices in the field of School Counseling and to maintain ethical standards
    *Be willing to serve on school- and/or District-wide committees where appropriate.
    *Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
