    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Job Summary:
    Under the direction of the Director of Technology, the Business Data System Specialist performs a variety of complex technical and specialized functions in support of the District's Business software and applications. He/She supports the District's data software applications in finance, human resources, technology, or a department that requires specialized data entry; provides instruction and advice to system users; analyzes problems and issues related to the software; coordinates usage among all system users; produces a wide variety of statistical reports and performs related duties as assigned. Technical and functional expertise allows him/her to translate departments' business requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Computer Science or Information Technology
    • Business Education preferred
    • Two or more years of experience in a leadership role exhibiting skills in handling and increased responsibilities.
    • Experience with Finance/Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) preferred
    • Experience with eFinance Plus preferred
    • Basic understanding of business areas: Human Resources, Payroll, Accounting, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets
    • Advanced level computer skills required
    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Essential Job Functions)
    • Primary responsibility is to provide end-user support via phone and email. This includes providing software support, providing data files/reports and troubleshooting system issues.
    • Prioritize and coordinate work collaboratively within the department, with other departments and with external agencies as pertinent.
    • Develop and maintain accurate records of activities and operations to ensure departmental documentation procedures for district business software.
    • Design and provide and/or coordinate effective training to systems users based on internal needs.
    • Analyze, create, run and/or modify various approved reports in alignment with specific district software systems and/or applications.
    • Works collaboratively with Financial Services and Human Resources to implement and support applications and training.
    • Troubleshoot and coordinate efforts for new and existing data collection and correction with other departments.
    • Complete assigned projects.
    • Audit the introduction and implementation of systems/applications and assist in the testing, documenting, and correction of problems following established departmental procedures and standards.
    • Exhibit confidentiality and initiative in performing job functions.
    • Maintains user confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
    • Protects organizational values by keeping information confidential.
    • Collaborate with Finance, Payroll and Human Resources staff.
    • Must have excellent interpersonal, leadership, collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills and be able to manage conflict. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and be able to explain complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people can understand as well as be able to explain customer needs and priorities in a way that technical people can understand.
    • Analyze and maintain all aspects of the business systems processes and setups.
    • Audit the introduction and implementation of systems/applications and assist in the testing, documenting, and correction of problems following established departmental procedures and standards.
    • Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
    • Primary responsibility is to provide end-user support via phone and email. This includes providing software support, providing data files/reports and troubleshooting system issues.
    • Analyze, configure, test, maintain and document eFinancePlus (financial software from PowerSchool) to ensure optimal system performance.
    • Work with Finance department to audit user permissions and account level access, make corrections and maintain proper security.
    • Open and follow up vendor support tickets, test and document system resolution.
    • Analyze, configure, test, maintain and document TimeClock PLUS (time management software).
    • Develop, coordinate, and implement plans to test business processes during system development and quality assurance testing.
    • Develop end-user guides and conduct ongoing training sessions.
    • Analyze regulatory rules and issues to identify impact on current operations and propose appropriate solutions.
    • Communicate proposed solutions and implementation details of system components to appropriate parties.
    • Fosters communication between departments and others to assure smooth and efficient fiscal, budgetary and related reporting activities.
    • Maintains timely, regular and consistent attendance at work.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Inside/outside environment; all types of weather, snow, rain, wind, heat and cold; frequently noisy, dirty, and dusty; sometimes includes close quarters.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust and temperature. Frequent interruptions throughout the day. May be exposed to stressful situations. Maintain effective critical thinking skills needed for making observations, reading and writing, communicating with others Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include frequent standing, sitting, walking, occasionally required to lift up to 50 lbs.
