GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Extended Learning Coordinator promotes academic achievement by managing high-quality educational opportunities beyond the traditional school day including summer school, after school, home school, and virtual school programs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The position will work under the administrative direction of the Deputy Superintendent of Academics with some latitude for the exercise of independent judgement. Work is reviewed for the quality, availability, and impact of extended instructional offerings, as well as the support of district achievement goals such as graduation rates, student achievement, and student attendance.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Maximizes learning opportunities through the ongoing generation and implementation of high-quality summer and afterschool programs.


• Evaluates and manages high-quality virtual learning and credit recovery offerings.


• Assesses and evaluates extended learning programs through data tracking of attendance and student achievement as well as district goals such as impact on graduation rate.


• Implements supports and operational tasks to ensure the quality of extended learning programs.


• Conducts individual student check ins, attendance tracking, data sharing, student/ family intake, support services coordination.


• Reviews home school plans for completeness and academic rigor prior to presentation to board for approval


• Assists with the coordination of credit recovery programming to include establishing systems and structures to support learners, keeping track of student and school level data, communicate and share best practices


• Collaborates with the department of Career and Technical Education to promote CTE pathways and opportunities at schools.

• Commitment to the mission and vision of PPSD and the relevance of job functions to that mission and vision

Education: A Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field from accredited college or university; Guidance background or courses in guidance preferred

Experience: Professional experience in after school programming or school community partnerships

Or, any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.
