Marketing Manager, Student Recruitment

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager, Student Recruitment owns and is responsible for crafting and leading the annual student recruitment, enrollment, and retention strategy for our network of 10 charter schools, ensuring we hit 100% enrollment. A key component of that process is the management of a student outreach and recruitment process for the network, developing a marketing strategy to promote our network and schools, managing social media channels for the network, and implementing systems for school support around recruitment and enrollment. In addition, the Marketing Manager oversees the planning and execution of our annual admissions lottery for the network.

This role reports to the Director of Operations. The Marketing Manager also collaborates closely with other key stakeholders across the organization, including school-specific student recruitment personnel, the Communications Department, and the Charter Operations and Finance departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Planning
  • Develop a cohesive annual student recruitment marketing strategy and subsequent work plans for both the network overall and for each individual school
  • Design, refine, and execute on enrollment strategy across the season, including pre-launch, application launch, lottery and enrollment
  • Lead bi-weekly/monthly and ad-hoc support meetings with all 10 schools to review recruitment outreach strategy and work plans, share best practices, and help deliver on recruitment goals
  • Own central data analysis for recruitment and enrollment across NVCHS, including developing systems, and producing projections and reports, and responding to ad-hoc requests
  • Partner with key constituents such as school, vendors, and CMO leadership and staff to plan and execute effective lotteries for each school in the charter network
  • Research best practices for recruitment activities and launch new initiatives to overcome potential enrollment challenges
  • Oversee and manage a yearly budget in support of recruitment and enrollment efforts
  • Manage consultant contracts, employees and external vendors hired to support the community engagement and recruitment efforts, such as digital and printed ads, translation services, and event management activities

Student Recruitment
  • Launch and manage digital advertising campaigns for both the network and individual schools, including ongoing management of network-wide social media channels and regular analysis of campaign metrics
  • Partner with Communications team to develop outreach materials (e.g. flyers, correspondence, newsletters, summary reports, brochures, etc.) to support community engagement and student recruitment efforts at the network and school level
  • Coordinate student outreach, application and enrollment process for charter network and school support staff (DSOs, Parent and Recruitment Coordinators) to ensure alignment of new and existing recruitment and enrollment processes
  • Maintain database of community organizations, faith-based organizations and middle schools to support the student and community outreach, recruitment and enrollment efforts
  • Support the Parent Coordinators and Recruitment Coordinators at each school in the development of school-specific recruitment and retention strategies
  • Interface and establish rapport with families, community and schools who are interested in the New Visions charter schools
  • Research and attend relevant community meetings and events (e.g. CECs, Community Board meetings, etc.) in support of the student recruitment process as necessary
  • Supervise a team of support staff (temps, volunteers) during peak student enrollment to manage the student application and enrollment process

Student Enrollment
  • Oversee school application and lottery process all each charter school, including quality checks for student application data entry and adherence to lottery preferences
  • Liaise with New Visions Technology to ensure the functionality of the lottery system, including regression and integrity testing
  • Monitor application system (SchoolMint) and report to stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Manage the lottery audit process, including securing the auditor(s) and oversight for the audit meeting to ensure a fair and random process for each lottery
  • Supervise cross-departmental teams to support schools in hosting lottery events
  • Oversee and manage the notification of lottery results to all applicants in the network
  • Monitor and support the student enrollment process for existing schools, including training key staff in the enrollment process and managing the charter enrollment system
  • Manage the student enrollment of new schools at the CMO, including notifying families of their seat offer and assisting them in the enrollment process

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5 or more years of experience in marketing, advertising, client relationship or pipeline management

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience designing, implementing, and leading large scale projects
  • Strong marketing background, including demonstrated experience identifying target audiences, conducting effective outreach and building lasting relationships
  • Experience with creating and managing successful digital campaigns through social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Familiarity with performance marketing and associated metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to develop program strategies and influence stakeholders to accomplish goals
  • Strong project management and organization skills, including the ability to develop and implement systems to manage the work and flow of multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organization (ie. key external agencies and vendors)
  • Ability to identify and analyze critical issues and problem-solve program implementation
  • Ability to manage programs in a fast-paced, demanding work environment
  • Strong data analytics skills and the ability to present data in a cohesive and compelling manner to diverse audiences
  • Interest in public education reform and commitment to the organizational mission
  • Advanced computer skills, including advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Google applications, database applications and internet research skills

Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Knowledge of public education and understanding of the high school landscape preferred
  • 1 or more years leading student recruitment and enrollment responsibilities preferred
  • Knowledge of the charter school sector preferred
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred
  • Experience leading remote or geographically dispersed teams preferred
