 Successful candidates will:

  • be able to guide our students in identifying their own writing processes and will be able to teach writing across
  •  genres (research writing, creative writing, journalism, screenwriting; rhetorical and literary analysis) and across modes (linguistic, visual, aural, spatial, gestural).
  • be student-centered, creative, flexible, and enjoy teaching writing and literature to students in grades 8-12.
  • will be excited to teach Writers Workshop, our school’s fundamental writing course, to students who excel in writing and to students who struggle with writing.

At Eagle Hill School, we support the notions that writing is a knowledge-making activity, that writing shapes identities and beliefs, and that learning to write is a lifelong process. Along with teaching Writers Workshop, the candidate we select will teach college writing, as well as a variety of literature courses.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in content area preferred.
  • Ability to be innovative, demonstrate a growth mindset, be optimistic, and belief that all students can learn. 
  • Ability to use and adapt to a wide array of technology as tools to support and deepen student learning and instruction;
  •  interest in and demonstrated skill working with adolescents.
  • Readiness to contribute as a practitioner of diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
  • Ability to make contributions to the school outside of one’s academic department, including athletics, extra-curricular programs, and residential programming.
