An employee in this class performs routine to varied office operations requiring general office skills. Assignments typically consist of one or more standard office operations such as phone and visitor reception work, file maintenance, data entry including routine database maintenance, keyboarding including word processing of common office/business documents, mail processing, library clerical work, and similar tasks that are quickly learned on the job. Experienced workers initiate their own daily assignments, follow through on matters, and use independent judgment and training to take appropriate actions to deal with standard recurring situations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides general clerical and secretarial support to school staff.
Performs phone and visitor reception duties: Answers calls and takes messages; screens calls to determine nature of matter and routes calls accordingly; provides general information on unit activities. Greets visitors to office and ascertains purpose of visit if necessary; assists visitors in locating appropriate offices or staff..
Performs routine database maintenance duties including entering data into computerized database programs and systems, editing and correcting data; may produce reports, lists, summaries and other documents that are printed out and distributed.
Performs word processing/typing including formatting standard types of communications such as letters and memoranda, notices, flyers from computer drafts, hand written copy, machine transcription, and file copies; corrects grammar and spelling; prints documents and arranges for mailing or distribution as necessary.
Maintains logs, appointment schedules, calendars, bulletin boards, reference files/materials and other office records.
As instructed, notifies central office staff, school staff and other parties of informational matters requiring their attention.
Receives and distributes mail, and collects outgoing mail; assembles materials for bulk mailings and arranges with mail service for processing.
Photocopies, sorts, collates and assembles materials for bulk mailings and arranges with mail service for processing.
Performs related work as required.

Job Requirements RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school and experience in performing general office clerical or secretarial work, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
* Knowledge of Phoenix and Oracle office practices and procedures, and of standard office appliances including desktop PCs, standard office software, scanners, printers, photocopiers, and facsimile machines.
* Ability to perform general clerical work accurately and quickly.
* Ability to communicate effectively, to work cooperatively with others, and to work under pressure and/or with frequent interruptions.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the School Principal or designee.
*Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred
PHYSICAL EFFORT: The work is mostly sedentary with periods of light physical activity, and is performed in office surroundings. Typical positions require workers to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; climb stairs, bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; and use fingers to operate computer keyboards. The work requires the ability to speak normally and to use normal or aided vision and hearing.
HAZARDS: Normal hazards encountered working in an office.
UNUSUAL DEMANDS: Work is subject to frequent interruptions.

Holiday: July 3, 2020 (County Holiday for the Fourth)
Summer School (students): June 29, 2020 to July 24, 2020
Payrate: $17 hourly, Band 5
