The Helena Public Schools are accepting applications for a School Psychologist. Position requires 3 years of experience working with students on Autism Spectrum or other developmental/behavioral needs; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the District. Prior successful experience in Functional Behavior Assessments and other assessments, individual program development, collecting and interpreting data, training staff to implement programming, data collections and interpretation is desired. School Psychologist licensure is preferred, other special education and behavior backgrounds will also be considered. A Masters is preferred, not required; Montana Licensure is required. Current entry level salary is $43,697 + per year depending upon education level and applicable experience. Position Description

Position Title: School Psychologist
Department: Student Services
Reports To: Administrator, Student Services
Date: January 2014

SUMMARY: Evaluates pupils referred as potential candidates for Special Education program and present a report to the local education authority on pupils he/she has evaluated. Test may include intelligence, achievement, personality, and perceptual motor test.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES . Other duties may be assigned.

Conducts extensive psychological examinations of referred students.
Participates in case conferences when referred students are involved, or as requested.
Serves as a resource person concerning learning handicaps for other school personnel.
Interpret diagnoses to school personnel, other concerned professionals, parents and students.
Makes recommendations on ways to assist a student referred to him for examination.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in school psychology or equivalent. At least one (1) year of successful experience as a school psychologist with direction from a fully approved school psychologist.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Teaching certificate with one or more special education endorsements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
