The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking candidates to fill the position of Middle School Math Teacher for the 2020-2021 academic year.
The ideal candidate will have two or more years of highly successful formal teaching experience and demonstrated passion for and excellence in the teaching of mathematics and 21st century skills. We are particularly interested in candidates who possess an ability to teach a range of courses at the middle and high school levels, but who have a passion for teaching middle school students.
The ideal candidate is passionate about math and readily excites students about math and its application in our daily world. They are creative and collaborative and have demonstrated success at and enjoy working as an active member of a team. They should also have demonstrated classroom management skills and should feel comfortable working with a range of learners. Experience in differentiated instruction and working with students with diverse learning needs preferred.
- Teaching 4-5 sections of middle school math to students in grades 6-8;
- Teaching a weekly advisory or other experiential education courses;
- Participating in team meetings to discuss student progress;
- Working collaboratively within the Upper School math department and middle school grade level teams.
The candidate must possess a BA or a BS in Math or Math Education; MA preferred but not required.
