The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking an outstanding Hebrew language educator to join our High School faculty for the 2020-2021 academic year. Our Hebrew program is based in the proficiency model guided by the ACTFL standards for second language instruction.

Successful candidates will have at least three years of demonstrated success teaching Hebrew as a second language to high school students and will have familiarity with teaching the proficiency model. The ideal candidate is passionate and charismatic, and uses a student-centered approach to teaching. They are experienced in effective methods of assessment of second language skills, and are familiar with recognized standards of language instruction, in particular with ACTFL standards. Candidates demonstrate a willingness to participate fully in the life of a vibrant school community, and are collaborative and collegial.

The candidate must possess a BA in Hebrew language, education or comparable certification; training with the proficiency method and/or MA in Hebrew Language Education strongly preferred. Experience in differentiated instruction and working with students with diverse learning needs preferred.
