The District serves approximately 800 students in two schools, including an elementary school and a junior/senior high school. The Southold school district, known for its academic innovation and its ability to incorporate practical learning experiences, offers a broad and challenging curriculum in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, mathematics, technology, and the visual and performing arts.

The Board of Education is seeking a leader who can build upon the district’s many accomplishments and its student-centered vision and has determined that the successful candidate needs to be:

• A strong instructional and collaborative “hands on” leader who has been a teacher and an administrator, with experience in bringing a growing diverse student body to higher levels of academic success;
• An innovative leader who while “wearing many hats” in this small school district will maintain and expand the excellent curriculum offerings and learning opportunities for all students;
• A highly visible, approachable, and personable leader who will be present throughout the schools during the day as well as participate in school and community events after school and on weekends;
• An administrator with proven success in building trust among the multiple stakeholders of a school community as well as communities with whom the district has ongoing partnerships;
• A skillful communicator who utilizes multiple means of keeping the Board of Education and the district stakeholders informed about the status of school district programs, activities, and decisions

Candidates must be eligible for NY State certification as
School District Leader or School District Administrator.
The Board is prepared to offer a regionally-competitive compensation package.
