Atlanta Public Schools is looking for qualified teachers for the upcoming 2013-2014 school year.   We are seeking motivated individuals who have the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The candidate must be able to create and maintain a climate that promotes respect, tolerance and peaceful problem solving for all students.
Applicants should also be highly qualified.  Highly qualified candidates are individuals who are professionally certified or have passed the appropriate GACE tests for certification in the subject areas listed below.  The district is seeking to hire teachers who are innovative, enthusiastic, and looking for the opportunity to prepare students for a successful future.   This event is for Georgia certified teachers, out-of-state certified teachers, and student teachers (GA & out-of-state) who will complete their teacher preparation program in the Spring of 2013.

In addition to your resume', you must provide a digital/scanned copy of your Professional Educator Certificate (If out-of-state, please provide front and back copy of certificate) OR a copy of passing GACE or PRAXIS assessment scores.  This information should be uploaded with your electronic application.


PLEASE NOTE:  Our electronic application system has a file size limit of 1MB per file, and a limit of five (5) files per application.  The total size of the submitted files cannot exceed 2.5 MB.  

If you are selected as a candidate for employment with Atlanta Public Schools you will be responsible for providing the following documents: 
  • Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended    
  • Two (2) recent professional letters of reference on school/company letterhead from administrators i.e. Superintendent, Executive Director, Principal, Supervisor, etc.
  • Copy of your official Georgia teaching certificate or GACE test results   
  • Copy of your two (2) most recent annual performance evaluations 
  • Completed Prior School Experience Verification Forms (if applicable, please print from the APS website)
  • Copy of separation notice from current school district (if applicable)
Performance Responsibilities:
  • Instructs students through lectures, discussions, visual aids, and other effective teaching methods for student comprehension
  • Prepares lessons and outlines to use in class that effectively cover the material
  • Administers various types of assessments to monitor student's comprehension of the material
  • Monitors students in the classroom, at lunch or throughout the school by maintaining order and discipline
  • Performs various administrative duties such as taking attendance, organizing the classroom, and recording grades
  • Coordinates parent/teacher conferences to review student's performance, behavior and other issues
  • Attends faculty meetings and training sessions
  • Adheres to local, state, and national testing procedures 
  • Bachelor's Degree required with at least a 2.5 GPA
 Certification/ Licenses:
  • Minimum of a T4-Certification in Special Education General Curriculum Consultative (P-12) and Mathematics (6-12) 


  • Passed the GACE Basic Skills Assessment or have exemption eligibility (ACT/SAT scores) and passed the GACE in Special Education General Curriculum Consultative (P-12) and Mathematics (6-12)
