Special Education Math and Science Teacher
Essential functions:
Provide an academically rigorous curriculum that aligns with both Perspectives’ standards and the Illinois Teaching Standards
Prepare lesson plans, outlines and/or syllabi
Guide and offer independent activities to foster proficient oral and written expression, critical thinking, applications and ethics
Offer alternative, performance, force-choice and creative assessments and activities
Plan and facilitate field studies to support and enhance classroom curriculum
Maintain accurate student grades, records and/or portfolios
Provide input and support grade level, subject matter and instructional leader led meetings
Model and teach The Perspectives Way
Teach and/or facilitate the A Disciplined Life curriculum
Implement and monitor both the school uniform and discipline codes
Cultivate and support parent and family involvement in school curriculum and school life
Participate and lead professional development programs
Participate in CORE and CAMP each summer
Duties as assigned in support of A Disciplined Life
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with certification in core content area.
Experience in the transfer of knowledge to middle school or high school students;
Ability to develop and foster successful teacher/student relationships
Ability to work collaboratively with teams and nurture collegial relationships
Proven organizational skills
Proven ability to work well with diverse constituents
Proven ability to verbally communicate ideas effectively
Proven ability to exercise initiative and discretion in the performance of position responsibilities
