ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

ABOUT SECREST
Secrest Elementary is a diverse neighborhood school. We proudly provide a welcoming and safe learning environment with a family feeling. Many of our students' parents and even grandparents were once Secrest Firebirds. Our mission is for ALL students to grow and succeed every day. To achieve that, our schedule has been carefully crafted for every student to receive individualized support or acceleration in both literacy and math on a daily basis. We work hard, and we are passionate about what we do, because we are driven by a shared sense of social justice. Thanks to our ongoing collaboration to meet students' needs, we have been rated as a "green" achievement school by the Colorado Department of Education for the past two years. Having shown great growth in student learning, we have also been invited to apply to the National Professional Learning Communities (PLC) network of outstanding schools. In 2019, Secrest will be opening a brand-new 100k Creative Learning Systems STEM lab in our multi-media center. We are very excited about the hands-on, collaborative learning opportunities this will provide to our future global citizens at Secrest.
Our Mission: Every student is growing and succeeding every day! Our Vision: At Secrest, we empower all students to become self-directed, caring, global citizens, ready for future challenges and opportunities.
ABOUT FITZMORRIS
The staff at Fitzmorris Elementary School commits to create an enriched educational learning environment that promotes success by addressing academic and behavioral needs of students through Professional Learning Communities and using a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). MTSS is a systemic, continuous-improvement framework in which data-based problem-solving and decision making is practiced across all levels of the educational system for supporting students.

We support the development of the whole child and offer opportunities for students to engage in a variety of activities including student council, band, orchestra, Fuel Up to Play 60, Science Club, Art Club and more. With the development of Fitzmorris Park and Recreation Center next door, students have the opportunity to be leaders in helping to develop the outdoor environment for our community.
