SUMMARY:
The Bookkeeper maintains ASB and other building accounts. This position also serves as the school receptionist when performed at a middle school.

CONTEXT AND MISSION:
Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, and White Center in Washington State. In 2013, parents, students, community members, and staff at all levels of the district came together to develop a strategic plan that reflects our goals and dreams for our students. The plan was updated in 2018 to guide our work through 2023. The plan's promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose. The strategic plan is centered on Our Promise. It includes five big goals for Highline students, supported by Our Foundation. * Equity. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * Ensures that accounting procedures as established by district are followed. * Receives, writes receipts for, counts and verifies monies for various activities. Prepares bank deposit. * Writes checks, requisitions and purchase orders. Obtains signatures. * Prepares change boxes for student activities. Accounts for monies. * Maintains checking account. Maintains and reconciles other fund accounts. Records cash received and issues receipts. * Reconciles budget printouts received from districts central accounting department. * Maintains ASB accounting records. Posts receipts and expenditures to proper accounts. * Maintains student financial records. Receives and answers telephone inquiries concerning ASB and other account matters. * Acts as custodian of office petty cash fund. * Maintains accounting records for general building budget. * Posts fines and payments, sends letters concerning fines owed. * Writes receipts for all incoming money. * Investigates and writes requisitions, purchase orders and checks. * Communicates with vendors concerning purchase orders. Receives supplies and verifies against purchase orders. Processes invoices for payment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent Two years of clerical experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

One year of bookkeeping experience

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT:
Must be bondable Criminal background clearance Valid WA State driver's license and proof of insurance

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Principles and practices of bookkeeping Modern office equipment including microcomputers and related software General office procedures District accounting procedures District & State ASB bookkeeping procedures District board policies and procedures

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing Operate a variety of modern office equipment including microcomputers and related software Maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups in a multicultural and diverse community Attend to detail and follow tasks through to completion Organize work, problem solve and select action plans Remain flexible to changes in assignments or situations Provide technical leadership in bookkeeping at assigned Middle School Operate a ten-key calculator by touch Set up and maintain accurate filling systems/databases Demonstrate keyboarding skills Comply with district board policies and follow administrative procedures
