The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District is seeking a dynamic school leader dedicated to social justice, who promotes the empowerment and engagement of every student. The high school principal leads a team of leaders in collaboration with high school building level and district leaders to achieve a shared vision for learning supported by the school community. At present, Middleton High School serves approximately 2200 students. A full redesign and renovation project is underway that will bring two high schools under one roof, including a small, innovative charter school and the comprehensive Middleton High School. Phase 1 of this project takes place in 2020-21 and phase 2 move-in will occur at the start of the 2022-23 school year. The focus of redesign is centered around these five learning drivers: learning partnerships, learner-centered, engaged and empowered, collective efficacy, and visible learning.

This leader regularly examines how their personal experiences and biases impact their ability to effectively serve all students. They possess a deep understanding of the systemic biases within the education system which serve to perpetuate inequities for some students and families. They understand their role as a change agent and work with other staff, students, and community to redesign the system in a manner which actively repays the educational debt owed to historically marginalized students and families.

DISTRICT VISION: Inclusive, innovative, and inspiring schools where every student thrives.

DISTRICT GOALS:
• Improve student engagement and well-being in order to improve student achievement: Ensure an inclusive, innovative, inspiring, culturally and linguistically responsive and supportive learning environment for all students. Increase student commitment to and enthusiasm for innovative learning; foster talent development and create a sense of hope for the future.
• Enhance adult engagement and well-being: Ensure an inclusive, innovative, inspiring and supportive working and adult learning environment through meaningful collaboration. Engage families. Take care of ourselves, our students, and each other.
• Plan for Growth: Ensure facilities and resources meet the needs of all of our students and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Wisconsin Principal License
• Three years of successful administrative experience

LEADERSHIP ATTRIBUTES:
• Visionary leadership, commitment to social justice and culturally & linguistically responsive practices
• Commitment to learning leadership, student engagement, and innovative practices
• Highly collaborative leader who develops the team and builds collective efficacy by bridging across teams
• Effective change management, supervisory, executive, and curricular skills
