Special Programs Manager

The Manager of Special Programs is a vital role in our schools because it enables the school to work directly with parents and students who have special needs. This person will develop and implement the special education procedures at the school keeping in mind all local, State , and federal guidelines and all compliance reporting. This person has the responsibility to integrate students into the school community. The Special Education manager will manage all special education teachers and educate all teachers in special education procedures, focusing on identification.

In addition to the above school-specific responsibilities, the Manager of Special Education may be asked to assist with national K12 efforts including development of policies and procedures, training, and curriculum enhancements. .
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate special education teachers
  • Create and maintain appropriate contacts with all applicable parties in the State
  • Develop and disseminate "best practices" for special education in the virtual school setting
  • Implement the use of assistive technology to meet the needs of our students
  • Develop and/or maintain successful special education operations including but not limited to related services, school psychologists, compliancy coordinators and other
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of all IEPs - ensuring compliancy and academic achievement
  • Travel, as required, to support students and staff in implementation of special education services

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Masters in Special Education
  • Experience with local, State and federal laws and reporting
  • 5-7 years of Special Education experience
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MSWord, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
