Summary: The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for supporting the district by providing advice and counsel to employees and supervisors in a wide variety of areas including, but not limited to: performance management, conflict resolution and HR policy interpretation. This position is expected to collaborate with school administrative staff regarding personnel practices; serve as CMS liaison between CMS senior management staff, employees and their supervisors; and engage in daily interactions with all employee groups. This position requires a high level of accuracy, sound judgment and critical thinking to determine appropriate methods of handling a high volume of legal and disciplinary issues to mitigate risks.

Essential Duties:
- Conduct investigations of employee relations concerns, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other work-related issues.
- Identify root causes of issues, weighing the importance and validity of information to form fact based opinions, solving problems and making formal recommendations which mitigate risk.
- Manages multiple cases simultaneously while prioritizing the most urgent needs.
- Document, collect and maintain investigation files and evidence that support investigative findings and results in the case management system.
Education and Experience:
Minimum
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, or related field; and
- Three years of direct Human Resources experience
OR
- Associates Degree or approved HR Certification Program and five years of Human Resources experience
Desirable
- Master's Degree in Human Resources
- Five years of direct employee relations experience.
- Investigatory Experience
Licensing / Certification Requirements:
PHR/SPHR, desirable but not required
