IDEA New Orleans is set to open its doors in the fall of 2019 and will begin by offering kindergarten through 5th grade to 360 students. In 2017, only 1 in 6 students graduated in the state of Louisiana graduated college-ready. Changing this statistic is part of the promise IDEA makes to current and incoming students. Role Mission: IDEA Public schools has the mission of being the largest producer of low-income college graduates in the nation. The goal of the Regional Math Coach is the improvement of instructional clarity, content and execution of a strong conceptual math approach in K-8th grade, ensuring that school performance continually outpaces the rate of expansion of the district, through building the content and curricular capacities of regional Academy and College Prep principals, and assume the role of intervention specialist for math intervention, as needed.

Accountabilities :
  • Provide excellent partnership, knowledge and support to ensure that schools are improving and exemplary in achievement, resulting in:

  • School Performance
    • 100% of s chools meet Math goal of 80/40/10 Basic+/Mastery+/Advanced+ percentages

    School Improvement
    • 100% of s chools receive a B or higher growth index/growth to m astery rating as reported by the LDOE
  • Instructional Improvement of K - 8 th Grade Math Instruction : Provide analysis, strategy, and consultancy to develop instructional staff to improve quality of math instruction
    • Lead strategic initiatives to build instructional capacity at schools such as providing focused analysis to leaders, building content capacity through coaching, designing professional development, creating deliverables that address strategic curricular needs on campuses.
    • Provide organization, region, school, assessment, and student-level analyses and strategic recommendations to increase both efficiency and efficacy of senior and school leadership.
    • Build capacity in instructional staff to deliver high-quality first instruction and data-driven interventions to close gaps
  • Quality Professional Development for Lea ders and Teachers: Implement school based and regional professional development.
    • Regularly analyze quantitative and qualitative data at academies and college preps across the region to identify instructional gaps in Math instruction and achievement.
    • Design and partner with academic services team to provide timely professional development that increases the ability of teachers and leaders to meet ambitious academic goals in Math.
  • Ensure successful implementation of Math interventions
    • Ability to read and interpret data in order to prioritize high leverage next action steps
    • Conduct field observations of Critical Student Instruction (CSI) math classrooms at campuses in your region to increase student achievement data
    • Ensure delivery of high quality trainings for CSI based on specific regional needs.
    • Deeply understand the CSI model, last year's results, and priorities for improvement within the first month of hire
    • Ensure that HotSpot blended learning effectively uses appropriate computer based math individualization tools
    • Ensure that LEAP Spring Break Math Camp s successfully targets students who are on the cusp of Basic or Advanced and improves their performance by the necessary amount to improve achievement levels

    Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
    • Experience: 3-5 years of teaching experience with record of results as a K-8 classroom math instructor, 1+ experience managing teachers, experience as an Assistant Principal (or similar role) preferred

    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Mastery of Guideposts for Excellent Teaching (or similar teaching rubric)
    • Ability to coach and influence leaders and teachers
    • Strong content knowledge as a math teacher or coach
    • Familiarity with Eureka Math, strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of Louisiana state standards

    Compensation:

    Salaries for this role typically fall between $58,884 and $75,077 commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
