Research \u0026 Evaluation Manager

Children's Literacy Initiative (CLI) is seeking a Research and Evaluation Manager to guide the organization on topics related to program evaluation, research, measurement, and assessment. The Research and Evaluation Manager reports directly to the Deputy Executive Director/Chief Academic Officer.

Our workshops and institutes build teachers' understanding of literacy and the art and science of teaching children how to read and write. By focusing on professional skills that improve over time and are not lost when administrations, buildings, or curricula change, CLI helps create a sustainable, school-wide culture of literacy that introduces students to the joys of reading, writing, and life-long learning.

Primary Responsibilities
•Manage and guide internal evaluation and planning
•Improve CLI's evaluation methods and tools
•Manage external evaluations and evaluation grant projects
•Analyze and interpret data
•Direct the strategic use of data
•Writing for publication and communicating research findings to a general audience
•Manage internal Research and Evaluation team that currently includes a Research Analyst and a Research Assistant

Education
Master's degree required ideally in Education Research, Public Policy, or related Social Sciences field that includes background on research and evaluation, outcome measurement, or statistics. PhD preferred.

Experience
•Experience in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on metrics and data driven decision making, preferably in a non-profit organization
•Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
•Experience working with large quantitative and qualitative datasets, and working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and software
•Experience writing for publication and communicating research findings to a general audience.
•Prior experience managing or overseeing research, evaluation, or performance management projects. This should include experience supervising staff, project budgeting and planning, and managing workflow.
•Prior experience working in education, specifically with urban school districts and experience collaborating with and managing external evaluation partners preferred.

•Excellent strategic thinking skills, with the ability to operationalize concepts and transform ideas into action as well as apply research findings to ongoing program development
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team and to interface diplomatically with all levels of internal and external contacts.
•Exceptional project management, prioritization, and planning skills, with demonstrated success producing high-quality deliverables on time and within budget
•Superb writing skills
•Non-profit management experience, data visualization, and knowledge of research and current trends in the field of early education strongly preferred.
