Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises school bus operators and operations of designated bus routes in the DistrictCoordinates the initial routing procedures for regular transportation, including realignment, adjustment, and continuous maintenance activitiesRoutes special buses to service students in the various area of exceptionalitiesConducts survey designs as required by State Department of Education for fund allocationsInspects the road conditions on bus routes and stops periodically, and makes follow-up recommendations for corrections to any issues that may be foundObserves buses during routesInvestigates accidents involving county vehicles and submits written reports and recommendations to effectively deal with related problemsProvides a comprehensive training program for bus operators, including safety workshops and instruction in the use and handling of all department vehiclesTakes an active role in coordinating transportation policies and procedures with individual schoolsTravels to schools to help resolve student discipline or driver-related problemsInforms Executive Director, Operations and Coordinator regarding irregular situations in the departmentDemonstrates a thorough understanding of the school bus road-e-o concept and supports its use as an instructional toolConducts periodic personal inspections of department vehiclesCoordinates efforts to secure bus-driversTakes an active role in educating students on school bus safety proceduresPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator
Education and Experience:
Education:
- Associate's Degree required or equivalent experience (2 years of industry experience = 1 year of college)A combination of experience and education may be used to meet the Associate's Degree requirement; Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years supervisory and/or administrative experience, preferably in transportation and 3 years of related pupil transportation experience required;Computerized routing experience is a plus
Certification/Licensure:
- Valid CDL license with "S" and "P" endorsements required

- Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnelGood decision-making and problem solving skillsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalExcellent organizational and leadership skills
