Gifted Education Specialist, Glenridge Elementary School

Do you provide purposeful, engaging, and high-level interdisciplinary instruction in advanced content that engages and further develops a gifted learner's critical and creative thinking skills and social and emotional development? Are you able to provide enrichment experiences in critical and creative thinking to promote talent development, achievement, and growth, including serving traditionally underrepresented groups in gifted education?

The School District of Clayton is seeking an effective and experienced teacher to serve as the gifted education specialist at Glenridge Elementary School for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate will be academically talented, with a strong knowledge base in curriculum and pedagogy to support the academic, social, and emotional needs of a diverse population of gifted students and learners.

The Successful Candidate:

Develops and customizes interdisciplinary lessons engaging gifted students in variety of activities and projects that effectively integrates the technology aligned with the ISTE Standards in a pull-out program model grades 2-5.

Assesses gifted student learning progress and communicates with parents/guardians about the curriculum and student learning needs; conducts parent-teacher conferences on both a regularly scheduled and as-needed basis

Participates in the process to identify gifted learners

Collaborates with classroom teachers/specialists to assist gifted students and plans and develop courses of study according to curriculum guidelines to personalize the learning with the individual student's needs, as appropriate

Provides enrichment support to individual and small groups of traditionally underrepresented gifted populations

Collaborates with other District gifted education specialists to develop and align curriculum

Participates in faculty and professional meetings, professional learning, and educational conferences

Assumes responsibility for the effective functioning of the school to include necessary non-instructional assignments and student management as assigned by building administration

Education: Bachelors degree required. Master's degree in Education or considerable coursework in gifted education preferred.

Certification: Missouri Teaching Certification in Gifted Education required.

Experience: Preferred.
