POSITION TITLE: Security Officer

QUALIFICATIONS: Required Experience or Training High school diploma or equivalent; 20 Hr Security training; evidence of security experience Preferred Experience or Training PERC Card; post high school education Special Requirements of the Position Work year consists of 24 days POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related mattersConduct school related business in a professional mannerMaintain a professional attitude while disciplining studentsWork well under pressureMaintain a strong attendance recordHandle student disciplinary problemsGain understanding of school proceduresProvide general hall supervision to ensure appropriate student behavior

• Check all students/adults in the halls for proper identification (ID, Visitor's Pass, etc.)Circulate throughout assigned area, securing hallways, stairways, washrooms, and locker roomsIntervene to de-escalate negative behaviorCheck that all exterior doors are locked

1. Provide administrator and teacher assistance

• Escort students from classrooms to deans', guidance counselors', and police counselors' officesRespond to emergency call buttons, fire alarms, or teacher requests as needed

1. Provide study hall management

• Record attendance in logs and submit scantron slips to data processingMonitor appropriate student behavior conducive to a study environment

1. Provide cafeteria direction

1. Provide exterior campus surveillance

• Circulate in school van throughout parking lots, regulating vehicle traffic and securing safety of foot traffic at beginning and ending of school dayMonitor student truancy during the school daySecure safety of staff and student cars parked in lots throughout the school dayAssist with student embarkation at bus stop at close of school dayEnsure that all exterior building doors are locked

1. Assist with services of the school store and ID centerOther related duties as required or assigned by administration
