The Salamanca City Central School District Board of Education and Superintendent are seeking a Director of Educational Technology & Information Systems (Director) who will serve as the supervisor and instructional leader of District Technology and the Information Systems throughout the Salamanca School District. The DETIS will be expected to work collaboratively with educational leaders and technology staff to research, direct, and facilitate the tasks and elements needed to ensure comprehensive integration of appropriate technology into every facet of school district instruction and operations. Achieving system-wide technological integration and excellence requires that the Director work collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and the community at large.
Salary commensurate with experience. Anticipated range up to $100,000.

Director of Educational Technology and Information Systems Commencing 2019
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES :
The Director of Educational Technology and Information Systems (DETIS) supports the Salamanca City Central School District mission and vision by identifying and developing educational technology solutions and supporting systems to positively impact learning and the operations of the district. The convergence of education and technology systems represent the future of education. Therefore the DETIS will need to work collaboratively with educational leaders and technology staff to research, direct, and facilitate the tasks and elements needed to ensure comprehensive integration of appropriate technology into every facet of school district instruction and operations.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE POSITION :

The DETIS will possess appropriate NYS certification or Civil Service credentials to perform the duties assigned to the title. The DETIS will work collaboratively with the superintendent, central administration, supervisors (food service, transportation, building and grounds, athletics), technology personnel, and principals/directors to support K-12 instruction.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES : (Illustrative only, not in order of importance or FTE)
The Director of Information Technology and Information Services will work under the direct supervision of the Superintendent, is required to demonstrate competency in the following domain areas, Instructional Leadership, Strategic Planning/Implementation and Technological Proficiency:
Instructional Leadership:
  • Work collaboratively with principals and teachers to embed technology related standards in their curriculum, assessment and instruction.
  • Model the use of effective technology applications and best practices to support the implementation of rigorous K-12 standards-based instruction.
  • Understand the role academic technologies play in education with respect to increasing student access, engagement and success.
  • Collaborate with the administration to identify training needs to support curriculum and system initiatives to maximize technological integration.
  • Lead the Technology committee.
  • Implement, manage and remediate the technology help desk system to efficiently and effectively support programs and operations.
  • Effectively communicate in written, oral and media modalities to stakeholders.
  • Evaluate the performance of technology department employees.
  • Oversee the ongoing training and development of technology department employees.
Strategic Planning and Implementation:
  • Develop and implement with stakeholder input a strategic vision for the use of technology in the district in both the academic and infrastructural systems.
  • Oversee all administrative aspects of technology programs and services in the district, including infrastructure implementation and maintenance, support of educators and paraprofessional staff in the use of hardware, equipment and management.
  • Consult with stakeholders to develop the annual technology budget
  • Coordinate evaluation of current technology inventory and purchasing decisions as related to technology, technology training and technology replacement plans.
  • Create and communicate technology resources to personnel.
  • Manage technology purchases in accordance with budgetary allocations, determine with stakeholder input a viable technology replacement schedule.
  • Maintain an extensive knowledge of trends and future directions of technology in an educational setting.
  • Establish a positive, supportive relationships with technology novices.
  • Maintain and promote public relations and lines of communication with the School/District community, staff and supervisors.
  • Inform district personnel about technology developments and policies.
Technological Proficiency:
  • Establish and implement cybersecurity protocols district-wide.
  • Plan, develop, implement, direct and monitor securities, data protection and disaster recovery planning for all information systems and databases in the district.
  • Coordinate, develop, implement, direct and monitor daily operation of educational and information technology.
  • Provide hardware, software and network support to Information Technology (IT) department.
  • Support the migration of software and cloud based technologies used instructionally and systemically throughout the district.
  • Effectively communicate educational and system trends to personnel
  • Assist with the management of all technology based information systems.
  • Ensure district compliance with any State Education Department data administration & reporting regulations.
  • May serve as district network administrator.
Other Duties:
  • Facilitate necessary trainings in technological platforms and systems.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by the Superintendent.
ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
The Director of Educational Technology and Information Systems ideally will possess appropriate NYS Certification as an Administrator or commensurate Civil Service Credentials.
REPORTS TO :
The Superintendent of Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Twelve month position, with regionally competitive benefits based on experience. A salary range of up to $100,000 will be offered to the successful candidate. Flexibility in workdays and hours may be necessary. A valid NYS driver's license and fingerprint clearance is required.
EVALUATION :
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent with input from the Assistant Superintendents and district administrators.
