  • Position Title: Assistant Superintendent- Elementary Schools

    Reports to: CEO

    SUMMARY: The Assistant Superintendent of Elementary schools is responsible to assist and support the CEO in all areas necessary for the effective operation of Chester Community Charter School and the implementation of school board policies. This responsibility includes assisting the CEO with effective educational programs and services, efficient business operations and for successfully meeting school goals which include but are not limited to:
    • Increasing student achievement
    • Building a positive climate and culture of trust
    • Sustaining behavior management systems
    • Monitoring student attendance and truancies
    • Supervising student transportation, safety and logistics
    • Ensuring campus and building security
    • Establishing family and community partnerships

    The expectation of this position is to support and educate building principals to create a schoolwide distributed leadership team to collaboratively establish measurable goals in the above areas.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: .
    • Maintains regular contact with parents/guardians of students, and the community as it relates to the areas managed
    • Work with principals to establish achievable action plans
    • Build infrastructure for curriculum, instruction and assessment
    • Monitor building and developments in the community
    • Assist with the planning and implementation of school initiatives
    • Assists in the selection of staff
    • Reviews and evaluates state assessment data
    • Oversees curriculum, instruction and assessment
    • Directly supervise K-5 principals and implementation of elementary academic programming
    • Oversee the truancy process and related communications to families and courts
    • Responsible for monitoring and implementation of attendance plan and all incentive and intervention plans
    • Member of attendance improvement committee
    • Coordinate special needs service with the Executive Director of Special Services to ensure compliance with the IDEA regulations.
    • Assist in the development of Elementary School professional development initiatives and serve as a member of the Professional Development Committee
    • Oversee and assist in the teacher/principal observation and evaluation process
    • Manage and monitor assignment of Instructional Strategists in assigned buildings
    • Coordinate the development of the instructional budget with building principals
    • Other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND EXPECTATIONS:
    • Master's Degree (Doctorate preferred in Educational Administration)
    • Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a classroom teacher or specialist
    • Proven background in urban education and student achievement
    • Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective elementary education principles, practices and trends
    • In-depth knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment systems
    • Ability to increase capacity, accountability, and efficiency for improved effectiveness among administrative and professional personnel
    • Capacity to build infrastructure and comprehensive needs-based plans for professional learning/development for all staff
    • Ability to enhance overall educational programs and services for all students by building capacity and consistency for effective change and sustainability
    • Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions
    • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
