Supervises: Family Advocates
Position Purpose: To coordinate the social service activities and information about families and children in the head start program. Function within the framework of the project guidelines for head start.
Qualifications:
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
Physical/Emotional Requirements: (The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.) Moving throughout the work location; lifting 10-20 lbs. occasionally; hand/finger dexterity in operating computers and other office equipment; eye/hand coordination; above average time pressure, intensity and analytical thinking due to multiple, unrelated demands on time and attention; verbal & written communication.
Performance Responsibilities:
Terms of Employment: 10.5 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college, with bachelor's degree in social work, human development, early childhood education or a related field.
- One year experience providing services for low income families, preferred in a Head Start and/or school program.
Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:
- Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations governing Head Start programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with parents, staff and children.
- Knowledge of community resources for families and children.
- Ability to operate standard computer equipment and data tracking/analysis software

Performance Responsibilities:
- Communicate and coordinate activities with community organizations to improve services to parents and children. Refer families to community resources.
- Attend community partnership meetings on a monthly basis.
- Prepare information needed for eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance (ERSEA) in accordance with head start requirements.
- Work with Community Action Head Start to take applications and review transfer requests.
- Review family partnership agreements and Parent/Family Community Engagement Outcomes
- Insure that each classroom is provided with social services as needed or requested.
- Assist parents in obtaining emergency services in the area of clothing, food, etc.
- Schedule and conduct conferences with staff to discuss family needs and problems; plan programs of assistance.
- Attend all pre-service and in-service training sessions
- Offer professional expertise in the area of social services to all personnel
- Provide program information to public and private agencies
- Coordinate activities with other components of the program and other sources of assistance
- Serve as liaison between staff and parents for communication of needs, policies and problems
- Prepare and conduct regular staff meeting and in-service training
- Prepare periodic reports for administration, policy groups and federal agencies
- Assist in the recruitment, identification and enrollment of children for the program
- Refer children and/or families to local service agencies
- Assist in the coordination of early childhood registration for Head Start Early Childhood Joint Application Process
- Make home visits and conduct casework
- Provide transportation (bus or taxi service as financially feasible) for children not living in the center attendance area; responds to parental inquiries regarding transportation
- Responsible for address and classroom assignment changes, class changes and drops
- Liaison between the Head Start Office and the Bus Company
- Perform any other duties as assigned
- Monitor daily and monthly attendance
