POSITION SUMMARY:
The Turnaround Mathematics Specialist promotes and develops successful mathematics instruction for students. The Mathematics Specialist is responsible for assessing students' performance levels, group and individual instruction, monitoring student progress and adjusting curriculum to meet students' needs. The Mathematics Specialist provides leadership for the school's entire mathematics program, collaborating with teachers, coaches, and administration, and serves as a resources within the school and for the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Screen and assess students to establish proper performance level.
- Provide intensive instruction to struggling students individually or in small groups within or outside of the students' classrooms.
- Analyze school and student data and recommend modifications to instruction and interventions for students for meeting and exceeding student achievement goals.
- Monitor student progress and arrange for academic interventions based on formative and summative assessments.
- Serve as a resource in the area of mathematics for paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, and the community.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure student mastery of standards by assisting with data driven instructional planning, integration of technology and implementation of research based strategies.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.
- Required to attend scheduled shift during regular business hours as mandated.
- Knowledge of research-based best practices and interventions in the area of mathematics.
- Ability to promote collaborative planning as a component of school turnaround.
- Ability to analyze student and school data.
- Ability to effectively develop and deliver content-specific professional learning.
Requirements: EDUCATION:
- Bachelor?s degree required.
- Georgia PSC Certificate in Middle Grades Mathematics required.
- Mathematics Endorsement preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in a middle school environment.
