Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning (Level: Pre-K � Grade 7)

SUPERVISES: Directly supervises principals and academic program coordinators and supervisors and indirectly supervises all certified and classified staff below the assistant superintendent level as related to the area of teaching and learning.

JOB GOAL: The Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning is expected to perform his or her duties in such a manner so as to ensure equitable opportunities for maximum learning for all students in the district.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent and Associate Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A. After an Assistant/Associate/Deputy Superintendent has been in any of these positions in the Springdale School District for five (5) years he or she will be employed with a recurrent two-year contract that may be renewed each year upon recommendation by the Superintendent. The contract length each year will be for 262 days.

EVALUATION: A. Based on local district policy and Department of Education guidelines; performed by the Superintendent and Associate Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Administratively assist in the evaluation of PK-7 principals.

B. Administratively assist in the professional growth plan for PK-7 principals.

C. Administratively responsible for curriculum development and supervision and evaluation of the district’s instructional program (P-7).

D. Administratively responsible for development and implementation of the district’s instructional management program (P-7).

E. Administratively responsible for the accountability program of the district (P-7).

F. Administratively responsible for coordinating consolidated school improvement plans and other innovations (P-7).

G. Administratively responsible for the district’s special education program (P-7).

H. Administratively responsible for the district’s Federal ESEA programs (P-7).

I. Administratively responsible for development and operation of the district’s library media program (P-7).

J. Administratively responsible for the district’s guidance program (P-7).

K. Administratively responsible for the district’s ESL program (P-7).

L. Administratively responsible for the district’s gifted and talented programs (P-7).

M. Administratively responsible for the district’s academic alternative learning program (P-7).

N. Administratively assist in the coordination of the district’s Joint Council.

O. Administratively assist with the district’s staff development program.

P. Administratively responsible for the coordination, development and selection of instructional materials (P-7).

Q. Administratively responsible for the coordination of the district’s economic education program (P-7).

R. Administratively responsible for the district’s early childhood initiatives.

S. Administratively responsible for the district’s summer school program (P-7).

T. Administratively responsible for the coordination of PE programs (P-7).

U. Administratively responsible for the district’s testing program (P-7).

V. Work collaboratively with other personnel in program areas associated with instruction, but which are not directly under the division of instruction.

W. Perform other duties as assigned.

Also responsible for District Professional Develpoment.
