  • ACS is seeking a qualified bilingual (English and Spanish) elementary teachers for the 2019-2020 school year. Teachers applying for this position must possess native Spanish fluency and the ability to deliver instruction in Spanish to native speakers.

    Requirements:
    -Must possess an Elementary (K-6) or Early Childhood (Birth-3) license issued by the Minnesota Department of Education.
    - Must be bilingual in English and Spanish with near-native proficiency in applicant's second language.

    Responsibilities:
    The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
    -Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies.
    -Develop and implement innovative methods for providing instruction to students.
    -Utilize school curriculum and resources to inform instruction and ensure that students learn at a high level.
    -Evaluate student performance in accordance with system used by the school; promote student achievement; maintain required student records; make related reports to the school administration.
    -Maintain contact and communications with parents of students and work with them to achieve student academic development; participate in parent teacher conferences.
    -Manage classroom and student behavior within the classroom; enforce rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students when necessary.
    -Continue to seek professional growth and development in the curriculum areas for which employed; attend professional development required by the district; maintain active teaching license.
    -Serve on a minimum of one school committee.
    -Contribute to the District's inclusive workplace efforts by fostering a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment.
    -Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    -Knowledge of the core curriculum areas for which the teacher is responsible
    -Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of student learning styles and abilities
    -Knowledge of research and trends in teaching and learning styles
    -Knowledge of instructional technologies and ability to utilize computer and multimedia technologies
    -Strong skills in classroom presentation and management
    -Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to work effectively with students, parents, district staff and community members from diverse backgrounds
    -Excellent organizational skills
    -Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
    -Ability to plan and implement lessons based upon the district and school's goals and objectives
    -Ability to evaluate student performance and to present evaluations in a manner that fosters higher student achievement
    -Ability to work in a cooperative learning environment
