Role Mission: The Director of Teacher Career Pathway leads IDEA's key national strategy for teacher evaluation, recognition, development, and retention by ensuring that IDEA's Teacher Career Pathway is best in class. This leader ensures that the Teacher Career Pathway is an enduring and trusted institution that motivates IDEA teachers to stay in the classroom for their career. This person is responsible for investment in and upholding the integrity and fairness of the Teacher Career Pathway. They will also maintain and update all elements of the program as IDEA expands.

This role will begin in Spring 2019.

Accountabilities

1. Teacher Retention:80% Level 1 | 85% All Teachers | 95% Advanced Teachers (Level 4+)
  • All other scorecard metrics are in service of teacher retention goal
  • Design, train, organize and implement the Teacher Advisory Council in all IDEA regions. Lead the partnership with Chiefs to approve agenda items, Executive Directors to facilitate regionally, and regional team to coordinate logistics.
2. Manages the Teacher Career Pathway infrastructure in a way that is reflective of and responsive to organizational needs year over year
  • Deeply understand the goals and curriculum associated with every teacher-led course in the organization.
  • Design criteria for fair and equitable student achievement metrics across all teacher-lead courses
  • Lead process and collaborate with Academic Services, Human Assets, and Schools Team to design and/or revise individual student achievement rubrics for each teacher-led course every year
  • Create and execute communication and change management plan for any revisions to Teacher Career Pathway evaluation metrics year over year
  • 99% of Teachers have a published student achievement accountability metric
  • 85% of teachers agree/strongly Agree with Teacher Career Pathway climate survey metrics
  • Design and/or update the Teacher Career Pathway Handbook year over year with current policy revisions
  • Design and cascade trainings to support and invest campus leaders, regional leaders, and teachers in understanding and implementing the Teacher Career Pathway with fidelity across the organization

3. Design, train, organize, and implement an effective manager review process across the organization to ensure 100% of IDEA teachers are accurately placed on the Teacher Career Pathway by the bonus deadline

  • Build, share, and execute the vision for Teacher Career Pathway Dashboards on the Hub.
  • Manage the project plan for Teacher Career Pathway Dashboards to be updated and audited throughout the year and published one month before Teacher Career Pathway manager review. Project will be executed by Software Development Team engineers.
  • Partner with broader Teacher Advancement Team to ensure all Annual Performance Review ratings on the Guideposts for Excellent Teaching (GET) Rubric are assessed by a GET-certified manager.
  • Manage the project plan to ensure the data is collected by deadline for all Annual Performance Review GET Rubric ratings.
  • Manage the project plan to ensure all Student and Family Survey data is collected from third-party vendor (Panorama) by deadline.
  • Identify all relevant organizational data that must be collected and processed on Teacher Career Pathway Dashboard. Ensure all data is communicated, gathered and process by final deadline.


  • Executes a staff development cycle addressing the needs of all IDEA teachers, co-teachers and their managers, such that 95% of employees complete all steps.


    • Design and implement a staff development cycle that allows for goal setting, feedback, and annual performance reviews.
    • Convene collaborative working groups to problem solve, design, and cascade plans for the staff development cycle practices.
    • Ensure effective training to all teachers and co-teachers for maximum participation and effectiveness. Design materials that make direct connections to the staff development cycle and the Teacher Career Pathway.
    • Collaborate with Teacher Advancement Team and Leader Development Team on training resources and staff communication.

    Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred
    • Experience: 2-5 years teacher experience required, 1-2 years managing a project or program that has organization-wide impact, experience managing adults
    • Experience in adult learning or curriculum and instruction


    Knowledge and Skills:
    • Ability to identify key stakeholders, build relationships, and influence decisions that impact your goals
    • Ability to understand and differentiate communication and training for various audiences and relationships
    • Operate with an organizational lens and encourage others to do so


    Compensation:
    • Salaries for this role typically fall between $65 ,426 to $ 83,419 , commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus based on individual and organizational performance and goal attainment.
