Pay Rate: $75,000 or more Annually ( Salary is commensurate with education & experience )

Position Objectives:

The Dean, Creative Arts & Design & Student Businesses is a key member of the administrative team, administers, supervises and implements instructional programs for the department at the main campus and off-site locations where applicable for the College of Creative Arts and Design. The Instructional Dean/Director of Student-Run Businesses manages and oversees all student-run business operations (Day and Evening hours) for 1) Emily's Café, 2) Emily's Spa (at 1205 Osage), 3) Emily's Barber Shop, 4) Emily's Salon (& Nail Salon) & 5) Emily's Massage Clinic at the 1820 and 1860 Lincoln locations. The Instructional Dean assists in fostering a culture of academic quality, growth and operational efficacy among students, faculty members, and staff. More specifically, the Instructional Dean is responsible for identifying and prioritizing areas for academic growth and sustainability; planning and developing long and short range academic programs and engaging with other institutional leaders to improve academic quality and sustainability. Additionally, the Instructional Dean reviews existing and proposed academic programs and shares accountability for program improvement, faculty hiring and development, course scheduling, and successfully driving new and returning student enrollments into programs. The Instructional Dean is responsible for budget development and oversight, and supporting the growth of the programs. The Instructional Dean ensures compliance with all accreditation and DORA requirements and standards, and responds to incidents including student and faculty issues. The Instructional Dean provides students with an academic learning environment that is conducive to academic and personal development. The Instructional Dean has academic quality and operational oversight responsibilities and leads the College of Creative Arts and Design programs in instructional excellence and retention goals and with understanding, supporting, and meeting accreditation standards of existing and future accreditation initiatives.

The Instructional Dean is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating and maintaining overall administrative control of the activities of the department as well as

monitoring the budget and maintaining external stakeholder relationships and ensuring that department goals and objectives are met. This Instructional Dean oversees all Creative Arts and Design programs at the college and all attached student-run businesses.

Essential Functions:

Student-Run Businesses

• Manage and oversee all student-run business operations (Day and Evening hours) for 1) Emily's Café, 2) Emily's Spa (at 1205 Osage), 3) Emily's Barber Shop, 4) Emily's Salon (& Nail Salon) & 5) Emily's Massage Clinic at 1820/1860 Lincoln.

• Act as liaison for student provided services for clients and the community at 1820/1860 Lincoln and 1205 Osage to provide opportunity for exposure to the college, programs and client/customer services.

• Handle all administrative and client related issues as they may arise in student run businesses at 1820/1860 Lincoln & Emily's Spa at 1205 Osage.

• Coordinate with EGTC IT department BSO on all Point of Sale (POS) contracts, decisions and business operations.

• Ensure all business points of sale processes are running according to Treasurer Office and Business Services Office (BSO) transaction requirements.

• Manage ordering, inventory, restocking and sale processes for all departments. • Oversee all retail sales operations for all student-run business services.

• Develop facilities and student scheduling and events in student run business spaces at 1820/1860 Lincoln/1205 Osage.

• Ensure cost of business expenses are addressed in potential revenue with BSO

• Coordinate with vendors, manage deliveries and oversee repairs to student-run business equipment and space.

• Oversee facilities' inspections (city of Denver and DORA) and business license renewals (Denver).

Instructional Program Leadership

• Leads all academic and student operational areas in the College of Creative Arts & Design at the 1820/1860 Lincoln campuses, the Eshetician program at 1205 Osage and the Video Production program at 200 East 9th Avenue.

• Works with cross-functional teams in supporting overall strategic mission of the college.

• Facilitates academic program space management, including instructional equipment, budgeting, construction, deliveries, expansion, scheduling, security, coordination with vendors and site planning.

• Ensures all compliance measures are met by providing employee and faculty training.

• Acts as Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) liaison for program improvement, opportunity and compliance.

• Responsible for effective space planning and utilization to increase student success and completion.

• Handles all administrative and academic program related issues in an effort to increase the overall success of the students, faculty and college.

• Provide leadership in the development, revision, and interpretation of curriculum, programs, catalog, and course information.

• Work with program faculty to develop program goals and objectives and monitor outcomes.

• Work with staff to identify and secure equipment, furniture, supplies, and curricular materials to assure quality program instruction.

• Direct departmental meetings to disseminate school policy/procedure, review departmental goals and objectives.

• Oversee and meet with all program advisory committees biannually (minimum requirement).

• Serve as ambassador for the institution by building relationships and networks within industry sectors representative of programs within department by visiting employers and attending events, outside of program advisory committee meetings.

Student Support

• Support all students that study within representative departments, including serving as intermediary between student and faculty member when academic issues arise

• Advise and assist students with selection of and progression through departmental programs when necessary.

• Work with departmental advisor regarding course/program enrollment, recruitment of students, and retention of current students focusing on improving student success.

• Assume responsibility for student/staff complaints, suggestions, requests and disciplinary action outside Code of Conduct (non-instructional) issues that are handled by the Director of Student Services.

Faculty Support

• Oversee all classroom activity via scheduled classroom visitations, observations, and communication with staff and students.

• Counsel instructors regarding process in working with students who require disability services or remedial assistance.

• Ensure adequate classroom supervision by providing required personnel as determined by state requirement and relevant regulatory agencies.

• Provide school/department orientation of new staff and arrange for new and existing staff to receive in-service training as needed.

• Work with faculty to create professional development plans, including staff development through professional growth activities industry visits, conferences/workshops, guest speakers, and university/college courses.

• Working with human resources, oversee the interview and hiring process for all departmental personnel, ensuring credentialing requirements are met for all recommended new hires.

• Supervise, monitor, and evaluate all full-time and part-time personnel.

• Work with college credentialing office in matters pertaining to teacher credentialing.

• Ensure faculty are in compliance with institutional and regulating agency requirements, including financial aid guidelines, student record keeping, attendance tracking, credit requirements as they relate to state mandates.

Fiscal/Data Management

• Develop and monitor the departmental budget and perform cost-effectiveness analysis for programs/courses working closely with the Director of Instructional Programs/CAO and Director of Business Services.

• Prepare and assure that data has been entered for all program proposals, departmental schedules, course syllabi, annual reports, personnel files and special reports as needed and ensure that data are used for continuous program improvement

• Oversee reporting processes for departmental grants per grant guidelines.

• Develop and update information for fall, spring, and summer catalog.

Institutional Professional Service

• Stay current in understanding of and assure compliance with appropriate outside regulatory agencies, including accreditation, CCCS Administrator's Handbook, CCHE statewide regulations

• Maintain active membership and liaison in professional, business, and community service organizations.

• Research industry trends and advancements leading to development of new programs.

• Attend and participate in local, area, and national conferences related to job responsibilities.

• Review legislation at the local, state, and national level as it relates to department.

• Work with marketing and public relations to market departmental courses and programs.

• Chair/serve on school-wide committees.

• Attend administrative meetings as scheduled.

• Serve as a guest speaker at organization functions, school-to-career groups, and upon request of local organizations and school groups.

• Other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Programs/CAO.

Education & Experience:

Required:

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

• Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role in education, preferably in a postsecondary setting.

Preferred:

• Master's degree in a relevant discipline or education.

• 3-5 years of experience in a related industry.

• 5 years of demonstrated experience in a leadership role in a postsecondary setting
