TEMPORARY ACCOUNT SPECIALIST
JOB DESCRIPTION
New Bedford Public Schools has an opening in the Bookkeeping Department for an Account Specialist. This is a non-union position for 35 hours per week. General responsibilities will include accounts payable and supporting the Supervisor of Bookkeeping. The ideal candidate will have experience in the day to day operations of accounts payable. The individual should be positive, able to work independently, team-oriented and able to function in a fast paced, high volume environment. The candidate should also possess excellent customer service skills, with a proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects. Experience with Microsoft Excel and MUNIS are preferred, but not required, as is prior experience in governmental accounting.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position assists the supervisor with coordinating revenue and expenditure activities of the district. Responsibilities include performing a variety of accounting and financial reporting activities.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
• Assists with processing and controls for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts
• Assists in year-end closing process and annual financial reporting
• Assists with maintaining the accounting system as it relates to cash receipts, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
• Assists with special projects
• Serves as a member on the Business/Finance team
• Performs other tasks as assigned consistent with the goals and objectives of this position
• Other duties as assigned
