ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Green Mountain High School is Jefferson County's only comprehensive academy high school with rigorous Advanced Placement, dual college credit, and honors courses, athletics, co-curricular activities, university and business partnerships, senior Capstone, internships, and 14 academy pathways providing students with exposure to real-world experiences and high level electives. Our Academy Program includes Business & Global Studies; Health & Human Services; Arts, Humanities & Performance; and Science, Technology, Engineering & Math.

ABOUT THE JOB

Documents to provide: Applicant needs to provide the interview team with the following:
  • Most recent evaluations by his/her administrative team or student teaching advisor
  • Copies of letters of recommendation and/or list or references
  • AP Language & Composition Experience preferred Requirements:
      Evidence of successful high school teaching experience.
      Current knowledge in teaching a variety of literature, writing through a genre study framework, differentiation in instruction, and assessment
      Current knowledge of standard-based instruction using individual, small group, large group and computer assisted methodology.
      Experience in working on a cooperative professional learning team. This includes regular meetings wherein ideas are shared, discussed, and decided upon by consensus, and where lesson plans, activities, and assessments are based on the group's plan.
      Evidence of classroom techniques that afford each student the opportunity to learn to their potential. This includes a working classroom management system, wide range of teaching strategies and pedagogy that incorporates RtI and accommodating multiple learning styles, a positive classroom climate, and an excellent rapport with students.
      Specific lesson plans that implement the Jefferson County Curriculum Alignment Project Bridge to Curriculum in the classroom for both the regular and special needs student. These lessons must also be adaptable to support and work well within the Green Mountain High School Academy Program.
      Willingness to teach a variety of classes and levels; flexibility in scheduling.
      Positive rapport and communication with students, parents support staff, teachers, counselors, and administrators.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated success or who have future potential in the following areas:

      Experience Teaching Advanced Placement
      Interest in taking leadership roles in the school's accountability and school improvement goals.
      Willingness to become involved in school activities outside of the English Language Arts Department
      Skill in using technology to enhance lessons including teaching an a 1:1 environment.
      Motivation to be creative, innovative, and to take intellectual risks.
      Experience in teaching the full spectrum of high school English. Emphasis here will be placed on the ability to teach Concurrent Enrollment/Dual Credit courses, including Advanced Placement.
      History of professional growth in the area of English/Language Arts. This includes memberships in professional organizations, attendance at conferences, workshops, and classes that further your English/Language Arts knowledge for the classroom.
      Willingness to sponsor extra-curricular activities

    Min-Mid Annual Salary Range: $39,922.80 - $56,155.10

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    SUMMARY: Responsible for the delivery of specified course content. Responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    - Orient students to their coursework and communicate course requirements.

    - Employ asynchronous and synchronous tools to supplement course content.

    - Create and deliver live and recorded instructional sessions.

    - Maintain regular office hours to provide students or parents one-on-one and small group support.

    - Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.

    - Partner with special education staff to implement student's IEP's, ALP's and 504's.

    - Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.

    - Attend face-to-face meetings with students and parent/guardian, as scheduled.

    - Grade student work, enter grades into an online gradebook, and provide course grade.

    - Communicate with parents as needed.

    - Collaborate with other instructional staff.

    - Administer school-wide assessments including CSAP, ACT, and Acuity.

    - Conduct student/parent/teacher conferences.

    - Attend (virtual and physical) and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development.

    - Perform other duties as assigned.

    EXPERIENCE A minimum of five years successful teaching experience. Experience with curriculum, assessment, staff development, and online learning. Experience with effective use of technology with teachers and/or students supporting educational technology initiatives. Awareness, understanding, and application of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Previous experience or current thinking about culturally responsive teaching that relates to achievement issues for all students. Demonstrated success using technology to ensure technological literate students.

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING Valid Colorado teaching license or certificate. Advanced degree or comparable experience in content area.

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & EQUIPMENT Must possess demonstrated skills in classroom and online implementation of best practices in instructional strategies, demonstrated success in working with learners, proficiency with Blackboard, and experience with leading online learning. Demonstrated leadership skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of standard District technology, ability to effectively and efficiently use for a variety of purposes, and demonstrated success in using technology and information literacy in instruction. Willingness to learn new technology. Ability to help others make sense of and adjust to change. Must be flexible and have capacity for dealing with ambiguity. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Demonstrated ability in interpreting assessment data collected from a variety of sources. Willingness to be a contributing member of the school.
