ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Allendale has been serving the Arvada West community for 55 years. We're a Title 1 school serving a diverse population of families and our small size (under 180 students) allows us to get to know our students and families on a personal level; many families choice-in to our school citing our commitment to their kids for why they stay. We provide weekly social emotional learning lessons as we know students must learn to problem solve a variety of situations so they can focus on their academics. We're proud that we offer 1 to 1 iPads or Chrome Books to our students as we embrace using a blended learning model at all grades. We go out of our way to recognize students who display good behavior and effort as we focus on positive behaviors in our school.

ABOUT YOU

As a Title 1 school, our teachers must be committed to teaching more than just academics to our students. We have time built-in for social emotional learning and we expect follow through from teachers throughout the week. As a small school, some teachers do not have a grade-level teammate meaning they must be comfortable planning instruction on their own and with our instructional coach. Our PLC model is very tight, we expect our teachers to plan daily reading and math interventions, as well as extensions for students. Incorporating technology into learning is expected at all grades (blended learning).

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY: Responsible for instructing students in an elementary grades K-6. Creates lesson plans, instructs students on core subjects such as science, literature, and math, and creates a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional preparedness based on the District's Core Curriculum. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.

Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.

Participate in ongoing training sessions.

Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.

Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

Read and stay abreast of current topics in education.

Utilize various curriculum resources and technologies to enhance student learning.

Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

Utilize District curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Prepare and distribute parent communications.

Observe and evaluate student's performance.

Manage student behavior in the classroom creating appropriate behavior strategies.
