    Principal - Chase School (Grades- PreK-6)

    ROLE SUMMARY:
    The Principal of Chase Elementary must be a creative, visionary instructional leader who possesses strong educational leadership skills to work closely with staff, families and community. This leader will provide vision and direction to develop, to the fullest extent possible, every student's potential for creativity, initiative, independence, inner discipline and self-confidence which will foster an enthusiasm for life and learning and ensure student achievement

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The successful candidate shall:
    • Demonstrate exemplary leadership and serve as a positive role model.
    • Maintain a strong commitment to help urban students to succeed; with a focus and sensitivity to diverse socioeconomic levels, racial and ethnic backgrounds.
    • Interpret goals of the Cincinnati Public Schools to the students, staff, and community.
    • Plan and coordinate program designed to assist in achieving school goals.
    • Establish, implement, and monitor policies and procedures of the school.
    • Understand the growth and development of elementary/secondary aged students.
    • Develop strong parental and community involvement.
    • Develop strong, effective relationships with staff, students, parents and community members.
    • Understand the school/district budget process and generate additional funding as needed.
    • Plan for and guides the learning process to help students and Teachers achieve state standards.
    • Maintain a school atmosphere which is safe and conducive to learning.
    • Establish a professional relationship with all assigned Teachers and Students.
    • Maintain an open line of communication with parents / guardians using the tools provided by the district including, but not limited to Powerschool and Cognos.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor with students, parents, Board and Administration.
    • Engage in professional growth activities through ongoing programs of job related knowledge and skill development.
    • Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements.
    • Possess a working knowledge of state standards and assessments.
    • Take corrective action on NCLB and State Accountability initiatives.
    • Demonstrate exemplary leadership and serve as a positive role model.
    • Assist in staff orientation and professional development.
    • Interpret goals of the Cincinnati Public Schools to the students, staff, and community.
    • Oversee the supervision and evaluation of classroom instruction.
    • Create teacher / student class schedules.
    • Approve petty cash disbursements and receipts.
    • Oversee food service and facilities management within the building.
    • Oversee, and monitor parent program operations.
    • Establish high expectations for staff, students, parents and community members.


    SPECIAL SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

    • Willingness to spend the time needed to effectively meet the challenges, objectives, and mission of the CPS district.
    • Ability to be professional, compassionate, empathetic, and caring dedicated to human growth and development.
    • Oversees and maintains a positive academic atmosphere conducive to learning and the safety of students.
    • Oversees the implementation of instructional programs, and maintains a climate where students are actively engaged in a meaningful and productive learning experience.
    • Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources along with Teachers to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.
    • Collaborates with teachers in assessing changing curricular needs and offers plans for improvement.
    • Consistently uses technology for the benefit of teacher and student's education.
    • Establishes a positive environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process.
    • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with teachers, students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
    • Manages all employee and students while on school property during the school day.
    • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, and honoring schedules.
    • Seeks to involve parents, corporations and the community in the education of youth.
    • Maintains licensure requirements and professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
    • Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas.

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

    CERTIFICATION: Valid Ohio Principal License. Those applicants completing all coursework for the principal's license by July 1, 2019, must submit a letter of verification from the program advisor in lieu of the license.

    EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years as a successful teacher or in a teacher related position. Two years in an administrative or supervisory position working with all types of exceptional children, preferred.

    TRAINING: Master's degree or beyond with a concentration in educational
    administration.

    SALARY RANGE:

    Type of Contract: Principal
    Salary: Principal per CAAS Agreement

    Principals will be placed in the level equal to their years of leadership as principal and other salary differentials, if applicable.
