Position Type: Administration. Under the Dual Superintendent model, two Superintendents will cooperatively lead the District.

THE SCHOOL DISTRICT

Harrison School District Two encompasses 19 square miles on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Harrison has 13 elementary schools, one K-8 community school, three middle schools, two high schools, one Career Readiness Academy, one home school academy and two charter schools serving over 11,000 students with diverse economic backgrounds and rich ethnic pride. Harrison celebrates all cultures and strives to implement programs that teach the benefits and advantages of working together in a diverse society. Over the years, the District has been recognized at the state and national level for its innovative education reform efforts which have led to increased graduation rates and tremendous academic gains. The District believes in building partnerships with parents, community members, and educators to prepare students to be successful learners, productive citizens, and caring contributors to society.

The District has worked on establishing a culture of feedback to support teachers, special services providers, and educational support personnel in order to ensure our students receive a well-rounded education. SUPERINTENDENT SALARY: $150,000 - $190,000

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS
  • Master's degree required
  • Administrative experience required
  • Principal or Administrator License required; applicant must be eligible to obtain an Administrator License in a timely manner if not already held

DOCTORATE REQUIRED? No

SUPERINTENDENT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED? No, however central office administration experience is preferred.

OTHER SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
  • Ability to effectively share the role and responsibilities of the dual superintendency through consistent collaboration and unified vision
  • Successful experience as an instructional leader
  • Has knowledge in curriculum development, instruction, and assessments
  • Understands Colorado school finance and school law
  • Proven success developing school district budgets and managing district finances
  • Strategic thinker with vision, focus, ability to inspire others and commitment to his/her work
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills through listening, speaking and writing
  • Knowledgeable about education in Colorado
  • Integrity, honesty and fairness
  • Experience making tough decisions and following through on them
  • Transparent and open - reflective of ideas while being thorough and succinct in communication
  • Passionate about education for all students
  • Has visibility in schools and in the community
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills while maintaining high integrity
