The JCPS Department of Diversity, Equity and Poverty is currently seeking currently employed JCPS Full-time instructional assistants for programs during Spring Break April 1st -5th. The ‘Literacy &' Programs were designed to reduce the JCPS achievement gap by providing fun and engaging interventions to at-risk youth along with exciting and character-building activities like yoga, karate, chess and photography!

Teachers will:

• Provide small-group instruction and interventions.
• Mentor and develop relationships with students facing barriers to education.
• Receive support and recognition from school and district administrators
• Receive detailed lesson plans, curriculum resources, anchor texts, and instructional materials to utilize during the program.
• Engage in fun character-building activities like chess, karate, yoga and photography with JCPS students as they receive instruction from master coaches in these areas.
• Contribute to a district-supported initiative designed to reduce the JCPS achievement gap.
• Have fun with students who may otherwise not have the opportunity to experience this type of programming!

Location: The assigned locations will be discussed if a Job Offer is made and are still under development.
They may include Rangeland, Shelby, and Engelhard. They will be in JCPS Elementary schools.

Compensation: Hourly

Dates: April 1st - 5th

Times: Staff works from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. Individuals selected must work entire program.

• There is a required specific and compensated 1-2 hour PD after the normal work day on March 25th.

Candidates for these positions will be reviewed as soon as possible to meet the critical needs for the program. Job Offers will be made to individuals who best meet programmatic needs. To ensure consistency for our students and to have a strong instructional leader in place the candidates for this position will be reviewed prior to the deadline date.
