POSITION TITLE: Global Village Teacher-Spanish Immersion Support

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Virginia teaching license.


  • Must be proficient in Spanish.

  • Coursework/experience in Social Studies.

  • Availability to participate in professional learning activities in early July prior to the beginning of the program.


  • Availability to participate in curriculum development activities prior to commencement of the program.


  • Ability to use open-ended questioning and problem solving strategies, connect student learning to the world outside the classroom, and create learning environments where students manipulate concrete material.



JOB DESCRIPTION:
Orientation: July 3, 2019

July 8 - August 2, 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This program will focus on the delivery of thematic curriculum to students with content emphasis on world geography and culture.

  • Schedule classes to come to the lab to use technology for the completion of projects that support classroom instruction.

  • Skills instruction will focus on research, analysis, product development, and creative problem solving.

  • Students will be engaged in collaborative learning, independent research, and self assessment.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience teaching at the primary level.


  • Experience with instructional technology.

  • Curriculum development experience.

  • Leadership experience (lead teacher, team leader, school committee, etc.).

SALARY:
Summer School teachers who are APS employees during the year will be paid the Non-VRS equivalant rate.Retired APS teachers will be paid $47.73 per hour per APS pay plan. Non-APS licensed summer school teachers will be paid $32.50 per hour.
