    POSITION SUMMARY: The Family Case Worker/Grant Implementation Specialist reports to the Director of Social Work and provides crucial support in the areas of counseling, crisis intervention, and community resource referrals. These efforts will support the social work department by increasing their effectiveness and efficiencies with helping at-risk, economically disadvantaged youth develop the social-emotional skills, problem-solving abilities and coping mechanisms necessary to function in the academic learning environment.

    GRANT IMPLEMENTATION SPECIALIST ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Coordinate all activities associated with the grant-funded R.E.A.T program. The program's primary goals are to prevent delinquency, reduce violence and criminal activity, reduce gang membership, and help students develop a positive relationship with law enforcement. The program includes: an elementary school curriculum, a middle school curriculum, a summer program, and a families training component.
    • Work closely with Director of Technical and Support Services to support scheduling of school-day workshops and assemblies;
    • Meet with School Resource Officers (SROs) and School Police Officer (School Police Officer) frequently to track program implementation, address challenges and plan work;
    • Work with summer camp staff to include G.R.E.A.T sessions in summer activities calendar;
    • Work with SROs and SPO to develop, implement and evaluate a culminating community day event for students and family participants;
    • Work with officers and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to plan and lead six (6) monthly family sessions during the academic school year;
    • Work with development department to support quarterly reporting requests by providing information relating to program goals, indicators, and outcomes;
    • Perform additional administrative tasks as necessary.

    FAMILY CASE WORKER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • To work in collaboration with counseling staff, teachers, parents and administrators
    • to determine what services are required to meet the needs of the children and their families.
    • Network with local agencies as means of providing services and arranging support services for families in need.
    • Collect supplementary information to develop service plans in consultation with children and their families.
    • Serve as liaison between students, homes, schools and community agencies.
    • Communicate and work collaboratively with internal staff, across departments and
    • Adheres to weekly counseling schedules and provides written documentation to the Director of Social Work;
    • Reports problems of neglect or abuse to local CYS agency (mandated reporter).

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)
    • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred;
    • Three-Five (3-5) years' experience providing social work support services for low-income students and families in an urban educational setting;
    • A proven background in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with growing responsibilities;
    • Strong organizational ability with a fine-tuned attention to detail;
    • Ability to prioritize multiple requests, act and meet deadlines;
    • A strong proven background in thorough search for information and exhaustive exploration of solutions;
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds, levels of education, economic resources, and experience;
    • Ability to participate in a strong, collaborative team;
    • Highly focused and results-oriented in supporting complex, deadline-driven operations; able to identify goals and priorities to resolve issues in initial stages.

    ADA SPECIFICATIONS (Physical demands that must be met to complete the essential functions of the job).

    This position is primarily sedentary in the office with occasional local travel and may require some bending and lifting.
