The Instructional Technology Specialist will participate in the implementation of technology integration to support transformational change. The Instructional Technology Specialist will work with schools to provided job-embedded professional development and instructional support to building leadership, teachers, and other staff. Additionally, Instructional Technology Specialists will develop and conduct professional development sessions; develop and maintain training materials and resources; provide input and recommendations regarding software purchases and building- and district-level technology plans; and provide input on ways to increase teachers' use of technology to increase student achievement. This position works closely with teachers, Teaching and Learning Administrators, building administrators, and teacher leader positions throughout the district.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the assignment and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.
  1. Collaborate regularly with staff for instructional planning, co-teaching, and modeling of effective technology integration strategies and provide feedback to staff;Collaborate with academic coordinators and other academic administrators on curriculum development and opportunities for technology integration;Collaborates with district-level staff developers to plan and implement technology integration learning opportunities for staff;Effectively facilitate peer coaching and staff development;Identify technology integration competencies among instructional staff, in collaboration with school administrators, and deliver appropriate coaching, training, and resources to support the professional growth of individuals;Participate in professional development, research, reading, and inquiry sessions to stay abreast of developments in best classroom practices, technology, and assessment;Introduce staff to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement;Build awareness and generate enthusiasm for technology resources;Promote an atmosphere that allows and encourages staff to use new materials, attempt and implement new techniques, and review their effectiveness on student engagement and achievement;Analyze achievement and program related data for the purpose of providing information related to student and program achievement in order to evaluate program effectiveness and to provide information needed for school improvement and strategic planning;Develop instructional technology solutions and related training materials for the purpose of providing users with tools needed to utilize technology;Oversee assigned projects and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring availability of information and/or materials and delivering services;Prepare documents (e.g. user guides, recommendations, reports, instructions, memos, screencasts, videos, etc.) for the purpose of archiving activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information;Train certified, non-certified, and administrative staff in the use of District technology and software for the purpose of improving work efficiency and effectiveness by enhancing the ability to use new and/or existing resources;Coordinate action research in collaboration with teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators as needed;Assess employee needs in order to effectively design, develop and execute training sessions to increase employee's ability to effectively leverage technological and digital tools and to communicate technology needs of staff and students to improve long-term planning;Participate in the decision-making process related to instructional technology acquisition and deployment;Coordinate and participate in technology committee meetings and activities;Participates in developing and monitoring the ethical use of district technology via established guidelines and standards; andPerform other related duties as required.

  1. Knowledge of standards based education;Knowledge and skill of technology and curriculum integration;Knowledge and use of a rich array of instructional practices and strategies;Knowledge of Professional Learning Community (PLC) philosophy and practices;Knowledge of adult learning theory, coaching and mentoring;Excellent and engaging presentation skills;Skill in verbal and written communications;Ability to participate in data analysis for instructional improvement;Ability to work with and lead others in a positive, cooperative and professional manner;Ability to engage in visionary thinking and planning based on the direction of the District's strategic initiatives;Ability to be flexible and persistent in meeting goals;Knowledge of or willingness to learn District 116 software programs; andAbility to manage time and schedule flexibly to meet the needs of staff

Required Qualifications & Experience:
  1. Illinois Professional Educator License for the appropriate grade level/position.Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of study from an accredited university or college.Three (3) years teaching experience.Apple Teacher for iPad, Mac, and Swift Playgrounds (required by the first day of school).Google Certified Level 1 and Level 2 (required by the first day of school).

Special Requirements:
Has consistently demonstrated proficient or higher performance on three consecutive performance evaluations;
  1. Demonstrated experience with technology integration and the organization and analysis of data;Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the area of research-based instructional practices to address student achievement.

Physical Requirements:
Individuals appointed to these assignments must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the assignment.

Reports To:
This job assignment falls under the direction of the Talent Development Coordinator.

Salary Range:
Per 2017-21 Bargained Agreement
